When you search for glamping in Kanto, every photo looks inviting, which makes it hard to tell whether a place really works with children. What matters on a family stay is the part the photos never show. Three things decide how easy the day feels: the plumbing inside your own unit, whether there is water to play in on the grounds, and how you travel there.
The first is whether the unit you sleep in has its own toilet and bath. At BUB RESORT Tsukuba you stay in a bell tent, and the bath and toilets are in a shared building. At Ten RIVERPOOL Saitama Chichibu the bath and toilet are not shared, they sit in a private aqua room attached to each dome, but you still step outside your unit to reach them. By contrast, Vision Glamping Resort Yamanakako gives every unit an open-air bath, a sauna, and a toilet, and O Park OGOSE has rooms where you can bathe and use the toilet without leaving your unit.
The second is whether water play is possible without leaving the property. Ten RIVERPOOL Saitama Chichibu gives each unit its own place to play in the water. The pool at Takatakiko Glamping Resort in Chiba is open from July 1 to September 30, children who are not yet potty trained may enter if they wear swim diapers, and arm rings are required for preschoolers. At Cottage Shinrinmura in Akiruno, Tokyo, the Akigawa River runs right below the grounds and becomes the playground itself. The third is how you get there. Some stays are reachable by train and others assume you will drive. Ten RIVERPOOL Saitama Chichibu, in the town of Minano in Chichibu District, is about a 10 minute walk from Oyahana Station on the Chichibu Railway, so the train works. BUB RESORT Tsukuba, on the other hand, has no public transport route at all, so you either take the free shuttle from Tsukuba Station (departing Tsukuba Station at 12:30 p.m. on the way in and leaving the property at 11:00 a.m. on the way out) or drive. Vision Glamping Resort Yamanakako runs a free shuttle from the area around Fujisan Station and the Yamanakako bus stop, HANZ OUTDOOR RESORT at Lake Kawaguchi has a free weekday-only shuttle from Kawaguchiko Station (reservation required in advance), O Park OGOSE has a shuttle bus from Ogose Station, and Camel Hotel & Glamping Resort in Onjuku offers a free shuttle to and from Onjuku Station (reservations by 6:00 p.m. the day before). Takatakiko Glamping Resort in Ichihara is about a 9 minute walk from Takataki Station. A place like Nasu Onsen Glamping Nenn, 30 minutes by car from Nasushiobara Station, is easier if you plan to drive with your groceries and changes of clothes in the trunk. The younger your children, the more the travel time itself wears on everyone, so deciding on a one-way travel time first is the order that leads to the least backtracking.

Features to look for in this collection
A toilet and bath inside your own unit changes the shortlist completely
When the bathrooms are in a shared building, the distance from your bed to the toilet is exactly what decides how hard the night is. BUB RESORT Tsukuba lists a 30 second walk to the shower building where the toilets are, and the Simple Bell Tent and Simple Dome Tent at Hanasansui are listed as a 1 to 2 minute walk from the shared building. Your options split depending on whether you choose a unit with its own toilet or decide that walk is acceptable.
Glamping in Chiba comes with the play areas already on the property
Ryokan & Glamping Resort Hanasansui in Otaki has detached rooms with open-air baths alongside bell tents, dome tents, and cabins, and its on-site kids park has wooden play equipment with a slide, swings, and a sandbox, all visible from the adjoining gazebo.
