Kids Stay runs a database of hotels across Japan, built by reading what each property publishes on its own website and on the booking sites, one property at a time, and organizing it from the point of view of a family traveling with a baby or a small child. From that data we publish reports on what staying with children in Japan is really like, with the method set out alongside the numbers. The figures and tables may be used in articles, broadcasts and presentations as long as the source is stated (we would be glad to hear about it). Among the 1,292 properties with a communal bath, 4.8% state that a child who is not yet potty trained may get into the tub. 47.4% of ryokan lend baby futons, 6.2% state that they have a nursing room, and 16.8% state that they can serve guests in English.
