Choseikan is a traditional Japanese ryokan founded in the first year of the Taisho era, a 3-minute walk from Nagatoro Station on the Chichibu Railway in Nagatoro, Saitama. All 22 rooms (21 Japanese-style tatami rooms and 1 Western-style room) face the Nagatoro Gorge and the garden, and the ryokan is known for its kaiseki cuisine built around delicacies from the mountains and rivers. Children's meals are prepared by age, and the 20-tatami corner room on the second floor is reassuring even for families with babies. The "Staying Together with Babies and Young Children" plan includes in-room dining and baby items to borrow, making this an easy stay for families with small children.
Rooms
There are 22 rooms in all, 21 Japanese-style tatami rooms and 1 Western-style room, and every one of them faces the Nagatoro Gorge and the garden. The standard tatami rooms are 12 tatami mats on the first floor (sleeping up to 6) and 10 tatami mats on the second floor (sleeping up to 5). In the second-floor 10-tatami rooms, just one simple bed (Kiri Rakune) can be added. The ryokan's largest room, a 20-tatami room on the second floor with a 6-tatami antechamber and space for up to 8 guests, is a corner room, so families with children and babies can stay with peace of mind. Its in-room bath is lined with hinoki cypress, with a roomy washing area and tub, large enough to serve as a family bath.

Dinner is served in one of four settings: the private dining room Iroriann Hanamizuki, your own room, the restaurant, or a small banquet room or hall. Children's meals depend on age. High school and junior high school students have the same kaiseki cuisine and Japanese set meal as adults, and elementary school children have a children's box-tray dinner. Children aged 2 and over who have not yet started elementary school have a kids' meal at dinner and a plate for young children at breakfast. Baths and Onsen
The communal baths are a rock bath for men and a hinoki cypress bath for women, each with an open-air bath and an indoor bath. The open-air baths use onsen water, while the indoor baths use bamboo vinegar. They are open from check-in until midnight and again from 6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. the next morning, and the men's and women's baths are not swapped. There is no private-hire bath, but the 20-tatami special room has a larger in-room indoor bath, and the rooms with an open-air bath have an open-air bath with a round tub. An elevator goes down to the first basement floor, where the communal baths are, but there are several steps inside the bathing areas, so the facility is not fully barrier-free.
