Fujilake Hotel, founded on the shore of Lake Kawaguchi in 1932, draws natural Mount Fuji hot spring water into both its rooms with an open-air bath and its communal bath. It is built to a universal design that suits everyone from babies to older guests. Every room is non-smoking, and because the baths in the rooms with an open-air bath are fed by the onsen, they work well for a baby's first onsen. A free baby-item rental corner and a toddler-meal menu are also provided, with families with children in mind.
Rooms
Every room is non-smoking, and the choices range from special rooms with an open-air bath fed by Kawaguchiko Onsen to Japanese-Western rooms for families. The special rooms include the Standard Room (42 sq m, up to 4 guests), the Deluxe Standard (63 sq m, up to 4 guests) and a suite of 70 sq m for up to 6 guests. The Semi Comfort (42 sq m, up to 3 guests), the Comfort and Nagomi, a Japanese-style tatami room with two low beds, are Welcome Baby-certified rooms. The Barrier-Free Corner Room (42 sq m, up to 4 guests) is fully flat and has two reclining beds, laid out to be easy to use in a wheelchair. The East Building Japanese-Western room (42 sq m, up to 6 guests) and the West Building Japanese-Western room (45 sq m, up to 6 guests) are roomier spaces with two beds alongside a Japanese-style tatami area, well suited to families. The view-bath rooms let you soak while looking out at Lake Kawaguchi or Mount Fuji, but that tub is not fed by the onsen. West Building Renovated Japanese-Western Room C has only a shower booth and no bathtub.

Dinner and breakfast are both served as a Japanese-Western buffet in the dining hall, with dinner from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (last order 7:30 p.m.) and breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. (last order 9 a.m.). The dinner buffet comes with 90 minutes of all-you-can-drink, and children aged 2 and under use the breakfast buffet free of charge. Toddler-meal dishes such as udon, rice porridge, tamago-yose (a set egg dish) and steam-grilled vegetables and fish are 550 yen each, and the suggested age varies by dish, with rice porridge suitable from around 6 months. Baths and Onsen
The communal bath is filled with Kawaguchiko Onsen, a natural hot spring nurtured by Mount Fuji, and has an open-air bath, a sauna and a jacuzzi. It is open from 2 p.m. to midnight and from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. The private-hire baths are also fed by the onsen, and there are two of them: a Mount Fuji view private-hire bath at 3,850 yen for 50 minutes, and a lake-view private-hire bath at 4,400 yen for 60 minutes, both by reservation. The lake-view private-hire bath has no steps from the entrance through to the bathing area and the toilet, and it is fitted with a lift for assisted bathing. The baths in the rooms with an open-air bath are fed by the onsen as well, so you can take an unhurried soak together with your baby.
