Mars Garden Wood Gotemba

Location and Access

Turn right just after leaving the First Exit of Gotemba IC on the Tomei Expressway and the resort hotel is right there, about a 5-minute walk from the interchange. It is about 10 minutes by car from JR Gotemba Station, and a free shuttle between the station and the hotel is available by reservation only. Highway buses run directly from Tokyo Station, Shinjuku Station and Haneda Airport to the Tomei Gotemba bus stop, which is also about a 5-minute walk away. Gotemba Premium Outlets is about 10 minutes by car and the Hakone area about 15 minutes, making the hotel a convenient sightseeing base.

Rooms

The main building and the annex together offer a wide range of room types, all of them non-smoking and all fitted with a Simmons queen bed 160 cm wide. Wi-Fi and wired LAN are available, and every room has an air purifier with a humidifying function, a refrigerator (the water inside is free) and a security box with an electronic keypad. The Annex Deluxe rooms and the Annex Special Room have an indoor bath and an open-air bath with a Shigaraki-ware tub, both fed by onsen water flowing directly from the source, for private bathing with a view of Mount Fuji. Bed guards are not available to borrow, so if you request a twin room, the two queen beds can be pushed together to create a wider co-sleeping space; add "beds pushed together requested" in the remarks field when you book.

Staying with Children

Up to 2 children through elementary school age can stay free of charge if they co-sleep in a bed. Kids' meals are available at each restaurant, and the hotel will accommodate allergies as far as it can if you get in touch at least 2 days before the date of your visit; because dishes are prepared in a shared kitchen, trace amounts of allergens may still be present.

Onsen and Communal Bath

Weakly alkaline natural onsen water drawn from 1,500 meters underground fills the separate communal baths for men and women. Each has an open-air bath, a sauna (about 92°C) and a jet bath, and there is a cold-water bath in the men's bath and a footbath in the women's bath. Hours run in two sessions, from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to midnight, and the baths are for staying guests only. The changing rooms have two types of lockers, electronic and cylinder-key, along with amenities including toner, lotion, cleansing lotion, hairbrushes and cotton swabs.

Dining

There is a restaurant for every occasion: the Kyoto-style kaiseki restaurant Ginmeisui (with sushi kaiseki and more), the teppanyaki restaurant Ginmeisui (Kuroge Wagyu beef and Ise spiny lobster), the Italian restaurant Fenice, which evokes the landscape of southern Italy, the sweets cafe Vert Feuille, and a bar. The teppanyaki and Italian restaurants also serve lunch and are open to non-staying guests. Kids' meals are available at each restaurant.

Parking and Rates

There are 119 parking spaces in total, 35 of them reserved for staying guests, and parking is free for anyone using the hotel's facilities, including accommodation, restaurants, the cafe, spa treatments and banquets. Without such use, the charge is 200 yen per 30 minutes. Check-in is at 3 p.m. and checkout is at 11 a.m.
