Hotel Miyama is an onsen ryokan standing along the Yokoze River in Yamada, Chichibu, drawing on its own simple sulfur spring source. The communal baths for both men and women have saunas and can be used 24 hours, and the open-air bath can be reserved for private-hire use. Rooms range from non-smoking family-friendly Japanese-style tatami rooms to roughly 80 sq m rooms with their own open-air bath, large enough for three generations, as well as Japanese-modern rooms with few steps. Rooms
This onsen ryokan along the Yokoze River in Yamada, Chichibu, has 38 rooms, 3 of them with their own open-air bath. The range is wide: non-smoking 12-tatami and 10-tatami Japanese-style rooms, both with a bath and toilet; Western-style single and twin rooms; the roughly 80 sq m rooms with an open-air bath named Kaze, Midori and Kurenai; and Japanese-modern rooms, either 42 sq m with an indoor bath or about 36-43 sq m with a shower only, furnished with Simmons semi-double beds and a coffee machine. The rooms with an open-air bath are spacious enough for three generations to stay together. The Japanese-modern rooms have few steps inside, which makes them easy to move around with small children. The 12-tatami Japanese-style room facing the Yokoze River is non-smoking and described as family-friendly, so there is no tobacco smell to worry about. The 10-tatami Japanese-style room is non-smoking as well. Humidifiers are also available to borrow for guest rooms.
Dining
Dinner is normally served in the dining hall and breakfast is a buffet in the lounge. Guests staying in a room with an open-air bath can enjoy dinner in their room; parties of 5 or more are served in a private dining room instead. The breakfast buffet includes miso potato, which is popular with children. Allergies and disliked ingredients can be accommodated, but requests cannot be handled on the day, so please inquire by the time you book.
Baths and Onsen
The communal baths are natural hot springs fed by the ryokan's own simple sulfur spring source, and both the men's and women's baths have a proper sauna and can be used 24 hours, apart from cleaning from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Onsen water is used only in the men's and women's communal baths; the open-air bath is heated water and is not an onsen. The communal baths and the open-air bath are not connected internally. The open-air bath can be booked for private-hire use in three time slots: 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., limited to 2 parties per slot, at 2,500 yen including tax for 45 minutes, by reservation. From 6:30 p.m. it switches to ordinary separate bathing for men and women, freely available until 9 a.m. A family bath is also among the facilities, making it easy to bathe together as a family.

A shuttle bus runs by reservation, departing Seibu-Chichibu Station at 3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., and Chichibu Station on the Chichibu Railway at 3:05 p.m., 4:05 p.m. and 5:05 p.m. Parking is free, with space for up to 70 cars.
