Tokai Kids Space Hotels: Play Areas in Mie and Shizuoka by Age
Hotels with an indoor kids' play space cluster in Mie and Shizuoka, while Aichi and Gifu have only a few. We also sorted which ones suit ages 0 to 2 and ages 3 to 5.
11 areas · 321 hotels (total listings across these areas)
On a rainy day, or in that tired stretch of late afternoon after a long transfer, having a place where your kids can really play inside the hotel makes a trip so much easier. Tokai has plenty of hot spring towns and coastline, which makes it hard to tell which prefecture to search if you want a hotel with an in-house kids' play space.
The short answer: Tokai's in-hotel kids' spaces are concentrated in Ise-Shima and Toba in Mie, and in Atami, Izu, and Lake Hamana in Shizuoka. Aichi has only a handful, such as the resort at Irago, and none of the city hotels we list in Nagoya has an in-house play area. Gifu has hot spring towns like Gero, but only 2 of our listed properties there have a kids' space. Every hotel featured here has an indoor kids' room or kids' corner (as of September 2026).
In Mie, good candidates include the wood-play kids' space at Grand Mercure Ise Shima Resort & Spa, the roughly 80 square meter (about 860 sq ft) kids' room at Resort Club Iseshima, the ball pool and bouldering wall at Toba View Hotel Hanashinju, and the baby space and active-play area at Senpokaku. In Shizuoka, look at the playroom and toddler pool at Risonare Atami, the kids' park at Kamenoi Hotel Atami, and the baby and kids' space reserved for guests at Hotel Wellseason Hamanako.
In Aichi, Irago Ocean Resort has an indoor kids' park split into a zone for ages 3 and under and a zone for ages 4 to 8. Atami and Izu are also easy to reach from the Tokyo area, so it is worth comparing this collection with our Kanto kids' space guide.
Features to look for in this collection
Tokai's kids' spaces cluster in Mie and Shizuoka, with few in Aichi and Gifu
Rather than searching across all four prefectures, the quickest route is to start with Mie or Shizuoka. In both, large hot spring resorts hold most of the in-hotel play areas, ranging from baby spaces reserved for guests to roomy kids' parks with ball pools and bouldering. Aichi and Gifu have fewer options, so the condition filters described in the later sections work better there.
In Mie, choose a hot spring resort in Ise-Shima or Toba
Kids' spaces are well covered here: Grand Mercure Ise Shima Resort & Spa, TAOYA Shima, Resort Club Iseshima, Toba View Hotel Hanashinju, Toba Grand Hotel, Senpokaku, and Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Toba Saichoraku. Nagashima Onsen has no listed hotel with an in-house kids' space, so filtering by condition is the better way to search there.

Mie
Browse hotels across Mie and filter by conditions such as an indoor play area or a Japanese-style room

Ise-Shima and Toba
Hotels in Ise-Shima and Toba offer different play styles, from wood-play spaces to ball pools and bouldering

Toba
Mostly hot spring hotels overlooking Toba Bay, with several where it is easy to spend a rainy day indoors

Nagashima Onsen
At Nagashima Onsen, search by other conditions such as Japanese-style rooms and kids' menus
In Shizuoka, choose a large resort in Atami, Izu, or Lake Hamana
Risonare Atami, Kamenoi Hotel Atami, Hotel New Akao, and TAOYA Atami, plus Hotel Katara, Shimoda Prince Hotel, and Hotel Cetus Royal in Izu, and Hotel Wellseason Hamanako at Lake Hamana, cover a wide range of play-space styles.

Shizuoka
Browse hotels across Shizuoka and filter by conditions such as an indoor play area or a kids' menu

Atami
Many Atami hotels have a playroom or kids' park, and baby amenities are fairly well stocked

Izu
Large resorts in Atagawa and Shimoda offer kids' rooms with bouldering and indoor play areas

Family-Friendly Hotels at Lake Hamana
At Lake Hamana, the baby and kids' space reserved for guests at Hotel Wellseason Hamanako is the main draw
Aichi centers on Irago, and Gifu has few options
In Aichi, Irago Ocean Resort is the one with a full in-house kids' space. Gifu has only a few hotels with a play area, so in hot spring towns like Gero it helps to also look at onsen hotels with tatami rooms.

Aichi and Nagoya
Irago Ocean Resort has an indoor kids' park with separate zones for ages 3 and under and ages 4 to 8

Nagoya
None of the Nagoya city hotels we list has an in-house kids' space, so search by conditions such as baby crib rental

Gifu
Browse hotels across Gifu and filter by conditions such as a Japanese-style room or a reservable private bath
Ages 0 to 2 and ages 3 to 5 suit different types
For ages 0 to 2, look for a soft-floored space where babies can crawl and pull up to stand, along with a nursing room and baby bath. For ages 3 to 5, ball pools, bouldering, and climbing walls give them room to burn off energy.
Three things to check before booking: guests only, free or paid, and age limit
Kids' spaces differ by hotel: some are for staying guests only, some are free and others charge a fee, and the upper age limit varies. Many also have set opening hours, so checking the official website before you book makes it easier to plan your day.
Tips for traveling with kids
- checkWith ages 0 to 2, look first at play spaces with a low age range, such as Kotokko Hiroba at Hotel Wellseason Hamanako (split into zones by age), the crawling area at Senpokaku, or the ATAMI KIDS PARK at Kamenoi Hotel Atami, which is open to babies from age 0.
- checkWith ages 3 to 5, play spaces where they can move their bodies suit best, such as the bouldering and climbing walls at Toba View Hotel Hanashinju, Risonare Atami, and Hotel Katara.
- checkThe kids' space at Hotel Wellseason Hamanako is for ages 0 to 6, so if you also have an older sibling in elementary school, check separately what is available for them.
- checkSome hotels set play space hours. If you want the kids to play right after arrival, check how they fit with the check-in time first.
- checkBed guards and baby cribs are often limited in number or have eligibility conditions, so it is easiest to ask about them together with the play space when you book.
