Grand Mercure Ise Shima Resort & Spa

Grand Mercure Ise Shima Resort & Spa is an Accor group resort hotel on a hill looking out over Matoya Bay in Ise-Shima, Mie Prefecture. It is easy to reach, about 15 minutes by scheduled shuttle bus from Kintetsu Ugata Station, and it follows an all-inclusive style that includes dinner and breakfast, drinks and snacks in the lounge, the onsen communal bath and in-house activities in the room rate, so families can take their time without worrying about extra charges.

At the heart of a family stay is Matoya no Mori, the wood-education kids' space that opened on April 1, 2026. Its wall materials and wooden toys use timber from Mie Prefecture, and the space is made up of four zones: Mori no Hiroba, for active play; Ehon no Mori, a picture-book reading space; Manabi no Kabe, a wall for learning about the cycle of the forest; and Tsukuru Kobo, a workshop for crafting with offcuts and nuts. It is open from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is free for staying guests as part of the all-inclusive stay, and because it is indoors, children can play there whatever the weather. Creations made in Tsukuru Kobo can be taken home, and European wooden educational toys, selected by FOLK FOLK TOY, were added in July 2026.

Some guest rooms are designed with young children in mind, with layouts where you can take off your shoes and bed arrangements that let a family sleep side by side. Up to 2 co-sleeping children ages 0 to 6 stay free of both the room charge and meals (for bookings made through the official website only; elementary school children are charged the adult rate). A baby bath and bed guard are available to borrow, and some rooms come stocked with baby items, so you can travel with less luggage.

The hotel has an onsen communal bath and a post-bath lounge, and in summer it holds events under the name Matoya Village, including a Day & Night Pool to enjoy by day and after dark, and a tuna-cutting show. Whether children who are not yet out of diapers may use the onsen communal bath or the summer pool is not stated publicly, so if you plan to use them, it is worth confirming with the hotel in advance. Surrounded by the natural scenery of Matoya Bay and convenient as a base for Ise Grand Shrine and sightseeing in Shima, this is a resort well suited to families with children. When using the onsen communal bath, guests with tattoos may bathe only if the tattoo can be covered with tattoo cover seals (8 x 10 cm, up to 2 seals), which are sold at the shop inside the hotel.
