Hotel Green Plaza Hamanako is a resort hotel on the shore of Lake Hamana in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka. Every room is a 35-square-meter Japanese-Western room looking out over the lake, and futons can be laid out in the tatami area, which makes the layout easy to use for families with babies. Dinner is a Japanese, Western and Chinese buffet where charcoal-grilled eel kabayaki and beef sukiyaki are all-you-can-eat, and kids' menu items, baby food, children's tableware and aprons are available. At the communal bath Shokei no Yu, the open-air baths are fed by onsen water; there is a baby bed in the women's changing room and baby chairs in the bathing area. The hotel is also easy to reach, about 7 minutes by car from the Mikkabi Interchange on the Tomei Expressway.
Rooms
Every room has a lake view over Lake Hamana, and the standard type is a 35-square-meter Japanese-Western room. It combines a 6-mat tatami area with a Western-style bed area holding 2 semi-double beds, accommodates 1 to 5 guests, and futons can be laid out in the tatami area. Guests make up the futons themselves. A TV, refrigerator, electric kettle, hair dryer and humidifier are provided in every room, and corner rooms with windows on two sides also have an air purifier. Hair irons, makeup remover, bed guards, chargers, shoe dryers and similar items are available to borrow free of charge, and yukata come in children's sizes as well. Guest-room amenities also include a crib.
Dining
Dinner is a Japanese, Western and Chinese buffet of about 50 dishes made with Shizuoka ingredients, including local Shizuoka vegetables and kettle-boiled shirasu (tiny whitebait) from Maisaka Fishing Port on Lake Hamana. Charcoal-grilled eel kabayaki and beef sukiyaki are all-you-can-eat. Kids' menu items and baby food are available for young children, along with tableware and aprons suited to little ones. Breakfast is a Japanese and Western buffet, where nyumen (thin somen noodles in broth) in asari clam stock and handmade deep-fried bread are popular. The buffet dishes are labeled for the 7 major allergens (8 major allergens from April 2025), and allergy-friendly meals can be accommodated. Please note, however, that because the food is cooked in the same kitchen as the other menu items, trace amounts of allergens may be present.
Baths and Onsen
The communal bath Shokei no Yu is a view bath with a sweeping outlook over Lake Hamana. The open-air bath and the open-air pot bath use sodium-calcium chloride onsen water, while the indoor bath uses heated water. Hours are 5 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the morning and 3 p.m. to midnight in the evening (12:30 p.m. to midnight on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays), and guests may also bathe before check-in. A baby bed is set up in the women's changing room and baby chairs are provided in the bathing area, making it easier to bathe together with a young child. Guests with tattoos and guests who have been drinking heavily are asked to refrain from using the baths, and mobile phones and smartphones should not be brought into the bathing area.
