Sai no Yado Tsukiya stands in a quiet, forested setting about a 10-minute walk from the shore of Lake Yamanaka. Its simple, natural design sits comfortably against the surrounding woodland, making for a calm stay. The building is about 95 sq m with 4 bedrooms and sleeps up to 10 guests. You can book a single room, or reserve the entire building as a whole-house rental, so families with children and groups of friends can spend their time without worrying about other guests. The property is run by Niji no Sai Co., Ltd., which operates several lodgings around Lake Yamanaka.

Garden Barbecues and Play Equipment for Children

The grounds include a spacious garden with a pavilion and equipment dedicated to barbecuing, where you can cook outdoors with family or friends. After dark, the decorative moon-motif lights that symbolize the garden come on and give the space a romantic feel. The garden also has a swing and a trampoline, so younger children have somewhere to play outside. Barbecues are run on a grill-rental basis: JPY 6,000 for one grill and JPY 10,000 for two, for up to 10 people. Charcoal, paper plates, paper cups and disposable chopsticks are supplied, but you need to bring your own food. Bringing your own barbecue equipment is not permitted, and advance reservation and cash payment are required.

Rooms and Facilities

The guest rooms include Japanese-style tatami rooms, and futons are provided alongside the beds, which helps if you are traveling with a baby at the crawling stage. Each room has air conditioning, heating, a refrigerator, a microwave and Wi-Fi, and guests can also use the shared self-service laundry and the shared living room. There are 2 shared bathrooms inside the building, with shower-equipped bathtubs for an unhurried soak; there is no communal bath or onsen. Meals are not served, so barbecue ingredients, breakfast and anything else are for guests to arrange themselves.

Check-in and Booking Notes

This is a self-check-in and self-checkout property. The door codes for the entrance and your room are sent by email or through an app after 3 p.m. on the day before check-in. Check-in is from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., and checkout is at 10 a.m. All rooms are non-smoking, and pets are not allowed. The bathrooms and toilets are shared facilities, so please take turns with other guests.

About 23 minutes by car from Fujisan Station on the Fujikyuko Line, and about a 10-minute walk from the shore of Lake Yamanaka. Parking is available.
