Overview

Rental Cottage Ururun Kawaguchiko is a group of six whole-cottage rentals set in farmland on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi. Every cottage looks out at Mount Fuji and comes with a Mount Fuji view bath, a kitchen and BBQ facilities. On the grounds, Chibikko Hiroba has large play equipment for children, and kids' chairs and card games are available to borrow free of charge. It is a rental villa set up to welcome families with children.

Six whole-cottage rentals with sweeping Mount Fuji views

Rental Cottage Ururun Kawaguchiko is a set of six rental cottages standing in the farmland of Kawaguchi in Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi. Mount Fuji is visible from every cottage, and true to the property's claim that cleanliness is its pride, guests rate it highly on that point. It is about 10 minutes by car from the Kawaguchiko IC. From Kawaguchiko Station, take the bus bound for the Ashigawa Farm Products Direct Sales Shop for about 10 minutes, get off at Nishikawa and walk 3 minutes. Free parking for 18 cars is available, with no reservation required.

Three types of cottage - all with a Mount Fuji view bath and a kitchen

There are three cottage types. The Mount Fuji View Cottage (about 80 sq m, for up to 6 guests, 3 cottages in all) has underfloor heating on the first floor, a calm cedar-paneled Japanese-style tatami bedroom and two toilet rooms with bidet-style washlets, while the second floor holds a high-ceilinged living room and a Mount Fuji view bath. The Garden Cottage (about 70 sq m, for up to 5 guests) has beds and underfloor heating, and the Maisonette Cottage (about 60 sq m, for up to 4 guests) is suited to smaller groups and built with particular care for soundproofing and insulation. Every cottage has a view bath with an artificial-marble tub facing Mount Fuji head-on (it is not an onsen), plus a kitchen stocked with a refrigerator, rice cooker, microwave, toaster oven, cooking utensils, tableware and even seasonings, along with two televisions, a DVD player, Wi-Fi and an air purifier. Cooking for yourself means you can prepare baby food or your child's favorite dishes.

Chibikko Hiroba and children's items

On the grounds, Chibikko Hiroba offers large play equipment and is popular with families (for children up to age 10, and a guardian must accompany them; the equipment was replaced in spring 2021). Kids' chairs for young children are among the items provided, and card games and Jenga are available to borrow free of charge for indoor play on rainy days.

BBQ facilities for each cottage

Each cottage has its own BBQ facilities, and a full set - grill, charcoal, griddle plate, grill rack, fire starter, paper plates and more - is available to borrow, with setup and cleanup included (from 2,000 yen for 2-3 people to 3,500 yen for 6 people). Bringing your own equipment or charcoal is not permitted, use ends at 9 p.m., and BBQ is suspended in winter, from December 1 to February 28. If you would like to barbecue, you need to check in by 6 p.m. Fireworks and campfires are prohibited entirely.

Staying here with children

Because each cottage is rented whole, the greatest appeal is being able to spend the night "as if in your own home," without worrying about a baby crying or little feet on the floor. Check-in is at 3 p.m. (last check-in 9 p.m.) and checkout is at 10 a.m. Pets are not allowed, and electric griddles may not be used indoors. With a Rakuten Travel rating of 5.0 out of 5 (23 reviews), it is an easy choice for a first cottage stay with young children.
