Resort Pension Motosu stands in the forest at an elevation of 900 meters, a short way from Lake Motosu. Guest rooms come as Japanese-style tatami rooms, Western-style rooms and Japanese-Western rooms, and the covered private-hire open-air bath is booked by time slot, one room at a time. Children can play at Kids Land and Play Land on the grounds, and Play Land has a diaper-changing table. Rooms
Guest rooms come in three types: Japanese-style tatami rooms, Western-style rooms and Japanese-Western rooms. Rooms 202, 203 and 207 are 10-tatami-mat Japanese-style tatami rooms. Rooms 206 and 208 are Western-style twins with a sofa, recommended for families with small children. Room 201 combines a Western-style twin with a tatami room and sleeps 2 to 3, while Room 205, the largest, sleeps 3 to 5 and suits large families. Room 101 on the 1st floor is a barrier-free Japanese-Western room with an en-suite bathroom; every other room has a shower booth, a toilet and a washbasin. The plan for the 2nd-floor Japanese-Western room for 5 guests can take up to 6 with an added bed. Babies and young children cannot stay in the 15 sq m twin room on the two-meal plan with beef fillet steak. Rooms have an air purifier, and children receive a set of a hand towel, a bath towel, slippers and a toothbrush. Yukata are provided for guests of junior high school age and up.
The cottages are detached houses for 2 to 5 guests. Meals are not included: they are self-catering, fully equipped with a rice cooker, a microwave, a refrigerator, dishes and more. The cottages close in winter to prevent freezing, and there are no shops nearby that sell groceries, so you need to bring your own food. The water is artificial onsen water, made by running Motosu groundwater through 30 kg of radium stones and heating it, and the open-air bath cannot be used in the coldest part of winter. The private-hire indoor bath is a family bath you use privately, open from 3 p.m. to 10:20 p.m. and from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Whether children in diapers may go into the bathtub is not stated, so please confirm with the pension.
Family-Friendly Features
Children's and elementary school rates apply only to bookings with 2 or more adults per room; for 1 adult and 1 child, the rate for 2 adults is charged. At the pension, infants are charged a separate facility fee of 2,200 yen (paid at the property), and preschool-age children pay the regular room rate. Parking for 12 cars is free, with no reservation needed. Check-in is from 3 p.m. until around 5:30 p.m. as a guide; please contact the pension if you will arrive later. Checkout is at 10 a.m. Fujiten Snow Resort ski area is 20 minutes away by car, with no shuttle.
