Aura Tachibana is an onsen ryokan within walking distance of Hakone-Yumoto Station, standing on the finest hilltop setting in Yumoto. Its pride is the colorless, clear alkaline simple onsen, gentle on the skin. The traditional, purely Japanese-style rooms in Mori no Yakata sleep up to 6 guests, making them well suited to families. The rooms with an open-air bath in Kaze no Yakata are adult-oriented, and children cannot stay in them. Dinner and breakfast are served in the dining room, and there are co-sleeping arrangements and children's rates. The private-hire open-air baths are available from age 10; children aged 9 and under cannot use them for safety reasons.
Rooms
Guest rooms fall into two types, Mori no Yakata and Kaze no Yakata. Mori no Yakata offers spacious, purely Japanese-style rooms that families can use: the traditional 12.5-tatami Japanese-style tatami room sleeps up to 6 guests in a single room, which suits family trips and groups. From the broad window-side space you can look out over the trees in the courtyard and the old Hakone Highway. Mori no Yakata also has a 12.5-tatami room with two single beds set in the Japanese-style tatami room; for 3 or more guests, futon bedding is added, up to a maximum of 5 guests. The Kaze no Yakata rooms, which come with a natural-onsen open-air bath, are adult-oriented, and children of elementary school age and under cannot stay in them. Even if you would like a room with an open-air bath, note that it is not an option when traveling with children. All rooms are non-smoking.

Access
The ryokan sits on high ground, a 15-minute walk from Hakone-Yumoto Station on the Odakyu Line. A free shuttle from Hakone-Yumoto Station is also available; if you arrive between 3 p.m. and 5:45 p.m., you are asked to call the ryokan from the station. By car from Tokyo, you can come via Atsugi IC on the Tomei Expressway and the Odawara-Atsugi Road. There is parking for 30 cars, free for staying guests. Checkout is at 10 a.m., and some plans, such as the room-and-breakfast plan, let you stay until 11 a.m.
