Rooms
Guest rooms are mainly Japanese-style tatami rooms that let you feel the nature of Hakone. The standard tatami room is 49.1 sq m, with a 12-tatami main room and a 4-tatami broad window-side space with sunken-floor (horigotatsu) seating; it takes 1 to 5 guests, and the futon bedding measures 970 mm wide by 1,950 mm long. A corner-room version of the same layout (52.5 sq m) is also available and likewise takes 1 to 5 guests. On the top floor there is a Superior Twin with beds in a tatami room (49.1 sq m, with two beds 120 cm wide by 203 cm long by 55 cm high; with the stowaway bed it can take up to 3 guests), as well as a Premium Twin (52.5 sq m, with two beds 1,420 mm wide by 2,080 mm long by 530 mm high, for 2 guests). Since May 2025 all rooms have been non-smoking, and each room has a bathtub.
Dining
Meals are served in the dining room at tables with chairs; in-room dining is not offered. Dinner is served in three seatings from 5:30 p.m. onward, and breakfast is served at 7:30, 8:00 or 8:30 a.m. Only Japanese cuisine is served; there is no Western menu and no buffet. For children, there is a kids' course meal with dishes such as chicken teriyaki, grilled fish, Hamburg steak and a hot pot, as well as a kids' set with fried shrimp, Hamburg steak and chicken rice. Breakfast is also divided into a Japanese breakfast for elementary school children and a Western breakfast for children who have not yet started elementary school. For food allergies, the kitchen can accommodate only the 8 specified allergens (shrimp, crab, walnut, wheat, buckwheat, egg, milk and peanut) and may not be able to accommodate other allergies, so please discuss your needs in advance.
Baths and Onsen
The open-air bath has milky-white cloudy water from a simple sulfur onsen. The water is heated and diluted, and the bath is available from 1 p.m. to midnight. There is also a communal bath, but its indoor tub uses heated water rather than onsen water. Mixed bathing is permitted only up to age 6; children age 7 and over cannot bathe together with the opposite sex. Guests wearing diapers cannot use the onsen for reasons of hygiene. Since every room has a bathtub, young children who are not yet out of diapers bathe in the guest room instead.
Family-Friendly Points
Co-sleeping is available for up to 2 children in the Japanese-style tatami rooms and up to 3 in the top-floor Superior Twin with beds in a tatami room. For children from age 3 up to those who have not yet started elementary school, co-sleeping costs a facility fee of 800 yen per child; for ages 0 to 2, there is no charge for co-sleeping without meals or futon bedding. Elementary school children stay at the adult rate. Cribs and bed guards are not available, so please bring your own if you need them. Because the rooms are largely tatami, guests are asked not to move around inside them in a wheelchair. Wheelchairs themselves are lent free of charge, but numbers are limited and in guest rooms they may be used only while moving. There is no universal toilet. In summer, the hotel also runs "Mezase Onsen Hakase!", an independent-study tour that parents and children join together, with hands-on learning about how onsen work, including an experiment using a red cabbage solution.
Access
A free shuttle bus for staying guests runs from the west exit of Odawara Station and can be used by reservation. You can also take a public bus from Odawara Station or Hakone-Yumoto Station to the Ashinoyu bus stop and, by contacting the hotel from there, receive a free shuttle by van. By car, the hotel is 12 km from the Sukumogawa Interchange, reached from the Atsugi Interchange on the Tomei Expressway via the Odawara-Atsugi Road and the Hakone Shindo. Parking for 42 cars is available for staying guests at no charge.
