It includes a look at the source-spring area and the yubatake (a field where hot spring water flows through wooden channels), with explanations by staff, and it can double as a summer-vacation independent-study project. The program cannot be booked on its own; it must be combined with an overnight stay or day-use bathing. It is held every Saturday from July 25 to August 29, 2026.

Rooms
Guest rooms are mainly Japanese-style tatami rooms where you can feel the nature of Hakone. The standard tatami room is 49.1 sq m, with a 12-tatami main room and a 4-tatami broad window-side space with sunken-floor (horigotatsu) seating. It sleeps 1 to 5 guests, and the futons measure 970 mm wide by 1950 mm long. A corner-room version with the same layout (52.5 sq m) also sleeps 1 to 5 guests. On the top floor there is the Superior Twin, a tatami room with beds (49.1 sq m, with two beds 120 cm wide by 203 cm long by 55 cm high; using the stowaway bed, it takes up to 3 guests). There is also the Premium Twin (52.5 sq m, with two beds 1420 mm wide by 2080 mm long by 530 mm high, for 2 guests). All rooms have been non-smoking since May 2025, and every room has a bathtub.
Dining
The dining area has tables and chairs, and in-room dining is not available. Dinner is served in three seatings starting from 5:30 p.m., and breakfast at 7:30, 8:00 or 8:30 a.m. Only Japanese cuisine is served; there is no Western food and no buffet. For children, there is a kids' course meal with dishes such as teriyaki chicken, grilled fish, Hamburg steak and a hot pot, and a kids' set with fried shrimp, Hamburg steak, chicken rice and more. Breakfast is also split into a Japanese breakfast for elementary school children and a Western breakfast for children who have not yet started elementary school. Food allergies can be accommodated only for the 8 specified allergens (shrimp, crab, walnut, wheat, buckwheat, egg, milk and peanut), and other allergies may not be accommodated, so please consult the hotel in advance.
Baths and Onsen
The open-air bath is a simple sulfur onsen with milky-white cloudy water. It is heated and has water added, and it is open from 1 p.m. to midnight. There is also a communal bath, but its indoor bath uses heated water, not onsen water. Mixed bathing is allowed only up to age 6; children aged 7 and over cannot use mixed bathing. For hygiene reasons, guests wearing diapers cannot use the onsen. Because every room has a bathtub, young children who are not yet out of diapers (not yet toilet-trained) bathe in the bathroom of their room.
Family-Friendly Features
Up to 2 children can co-sleep in the Japanese-style tatami rooms. The top-floor Superior Twin with beds sleeps up to 3 guests, so it is a good idea to confirm the number of co-sleeping children when you book. For children from age 3 until they start elementary school, co-sleeping costs a facility fee of 800 yen per child, while co-sleeping for ages 0 to 2 (without meals or futon bedding) is free. Elementary school children pay the same rate as adults. Cribs and bed guards are not available, so bringing your own is recommended if you need them. Because the rooms are mostly tatami, guests are asked not to move around inside the rooms in a wheelchair. Wheelchairs can be borrowed free of charge, but numbers are limited, and in guest rooms they may be used only when moving. There is no universal (accessible) toilet. In summer, the hotel also holds "Mezase Onsen Hakase!" (Aim to Be an Onsen Doctor!), an independent-study tour that parents and children can join together, where you learn how onsen work through hands-on activities such as an experiment with a red cabbage solution.
Access
A free shuttle bus for staying guests only runs from the west exit of Odawara Station, by reservation. You can also take a public bus from Odawara Station or Hakone-Yumoto Station to the Ashinoyu bus stop and call the hotel from there for a free pickup by van. By car, take the Odawara-Atsugi Road and the Hakone Shindo from the Atsugi Interchange on the Tomei Expressway; the hotel is 12 km from the Sukumogawa Interchange. Parking for 42 cars is free for staying guests.
