Overview

The Prince Hakone Ashinoko is a lakeside resort on the shore of Lake Ashinoko in Hakone, designed by the architect Togo Murano. Children under 6 co-sleep at no room charge, and cribs and bed guards are available to borrow free of charge with a reservation. The restaurants offer kids' menus, and children age 4 and over are charged a children's rate there. There is also an onsen communal bath looking out over Lake Ashinoko. Room types range from Double Rooms in the main building to Superior Twin Rooms in the annex that sleep up to 4, making the hotel a comfortable base for a family trip.

Rooms

The Double Room in the main building is 28 sq m and has one bed measuring 1,820 mm wide by 2,080 mm long by 530 mm high, for up to 2 guests. Also in the main building, the Forest Twin Room and the Lake View Twin Room are both 38 sq m with two beds measuring 1,420 mm wide by 2,080 mm long by 530 mm high; the Forest Twin sleeps 3 and the Lake View Twin sleeps 2 to 3. The Superior Twin Room in the annex is 40.4 sq m and combines two semi-double beds with two sofa beds to sleep up to 4. Please note that a crib cannot be set up in the Double Room because of the space available.

Dining

The restaurants offer kids' menus, and children age 4 and over are charged a children's rate, making it easier to dine as a family. For breakfast you can choose between a Western breakfast at Lakeside Grill (no reservation needed) and a Japanese set meal at Nadaman Gaden (no reservation needed). The French restaurant Le Trianon requires a reservation, and children may dine there only if they are age 10 or over and able to manage table manners. Food allergy accommodation is limited to 8 items - shrimp, crab, walnut, wheat, buckwheat, egg, milk and peanut - and requires advance notice.

Baths and Onsen

Takogawa Onsen Hakone Kohan no Yu, reserved for staying guests, is on the first floor of the annex and has an indoor bath along with a mist sauna and a cold-water bath. It is open from 6:00 to 10:30 a.m. and from 1:00 to 11:00 p.m., and is closed from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for cleaning. Children wearing diapers are asked to refrain from bathing. In line with Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare guidelines, mixed bathing is not permitted for children age 7 and over. The spring water is a sulfate and chloride spring.

Outdoor parking has space for 282 cars and is free for staying guests, with no advance request required. Snow is possible from December through March. Check-in is from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., and checkout is at 11 a.m.
