Guests report that because these are cottages, sounds from around them were not a concern and they could take their time, and that the children were delighted by the loft. Some also felt the cleaning was thorough and the inside of the cottage was tidy and clean. On the other hand, some guests report that Docomo phone signal only barely came through while au and Rakuten had no signal at all and SoftBank was unknown, so the connectivity is something to keep in mind.

Hakone-en Cottages are whole-cottage rentals set in the forests of Hakone, and guests can use the restaurants and the onsen communal bath at the neighboring The Prince Hakone Ashinoko. Children aged 6 and over pay the same rate as adults and co-sleeping is not accepted, but children aged 5 and under who do not need bedding or meals can be left out of the paying guest count when you book. Bed guards are available to borrow free of charge, and because there is a step at the cottage entrance, a stroller has to be lifted over it.
Rooms
These are whole-cottage rentals dotted through the forests of Hakone, next to The Prince Hakone Ashinoko. Each cottage stands on its own, which makes them well suited to families and groups. There are no non-smoking rooms, and beds cannot be set up pushed together. You cannot specify a room number when booking. Reading lamps and humidifiers are also available to borrow.

There is no restaurant within the cottages, so guests dine at the restaurants of the neighboring The Prince Hakone Ashinoko. On the terrace in front of your cottage you can also enjoy a barbecue with ingredients you bring yourself.
Baths and Onsen
The onsen uses Takogawa Onsen, the property's own spring source on the grounds, and staying guests can use the Takogawa Onsen bath Hakone Kohan no Yu inside the neighboring The Prince Hakone Ashinoko free of charge. It is open from 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., with last entry 15 minutes before closing and cleaning from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and a bathing tax of 150 yen per person per night applies separately. At the onsen communal bath, children wearing diapers are asked to refrain from bathing.
