Rooms
The guest rooms with an onsen semi-open-air bath are 45 sq m, sleep up to 4 guests and have a semi-open-air onsen bath built of hinoki cypress. The barrier-free Japanese-Western room of the same type is 49 sq m, has no steps and looks out over the Sukumogawa River. The standard rooms with an onsen indoor bath are 39-45 sq m and sleep up to 4 guests; they are Japanese-style tatami rooms where you can settle in and relax. The Hollywood twin rooms, with two semi-double beds (120 cm wide by 200 cm long) placed side by side, are 45 sq m, sleep up to 3 guests and also have an onsen indoor bath. The in-room baths draw the same onsen water as the communal bath.
Dining
Dinner is a seasonal Japanese kaiseki set meal. The 150-seat dining room Ichii has children's chairs, bassinets and a kids' corner, and it is wheelchair accessible. A kids' meal built around popular dishes such as Hamburg steak is available, but it carries an additional charge on plans that do not include dinner. The private dining rooms at Shikitei range from 4.5 to 22 tatami mats and can be used on certain accommodation plans. Breakfast is a Japanese and Western buffet of about 35 dishes, and dishes containing any of the 28 labeled allergen ingredients are marked on each menu card. However, the ryokan cannot change dishes for allergies or for halal, kosher, gluten-free or other dietary needs. In-room dining is not available. Dinner starts at 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m.
Baths and Onsen
The onsen is an alkaline simple spring with a pH of 8.7, a skin-beautifying water that everyone from babies to older guests can enjoy with peace of mind. The panoramic communal baths Katsura-no-Yu and Kinu-no-Yu alternate between men and women, and their changing rooms have a baby bed. The private-hire open-air baths Kumo, Hoshi and Tsuki cost 3,300 yen per bath, including tax, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis on the day, after check-in; Kumo is barrier-free. Please note that the ryokan does not provide bathing assistance, and no bathing lift or wheeled shower chair is available.

There are two kids' spaces in all: one in the 5th-floor rest area and one inside the 2nd-floor dining room, open only at mealtimes. The lobby and library holds picture books and photo books about Hakone, and the free-drink corner offers coffee, tea and ice pops. Guests are generally asked not to bring food or drink into the building, but items such as retort-pouch baby food may be brought in (please contact the ryokan in advance for details). Children are charged 70% of the adult rate. Children ages 3 to 6 who have not yet started elementary school are charged 50% of the adult rate, with meals and bedding. Access
A shuttle bus runs from in front of the tourist information office at the rotary outside Hakone-Yumoto Station and reaches the ryokan in about 5 minutes. It is not the ryokan's own shuttle but a paid bus circulating around Hakone-Yumoto Onsen (200 yen for ages 12 and over, 100 yen for elementary school children), shared with guests of other accommodations. On foot, the ryokan is about 12 minutes from Hakone-Yumoto Station; by car, it is about 12 minutes from Odawara-nishi IC on the Odawara-Atsugi Road via National Route 1. Except for large buses, free parking is available next to the building, but vehicles 9 m or longer cannot reach the ryokan because the road in front is narrow. Extending checkout by 2 hours to 12 p.m. costs 5,500 yen.
