Overview
Shimoda Prince Hotel, in the Shimoda Onsen area, is a resort hotel where every room has an ocean view, looking straight out onto Shirahama Chuo Beach. There is an indoor playroom, Submarine Kids Adventure, as well as a garden pool in summer, so children can move around and play even on rainy days. The panoramic onsen bath is a weakly alkaline simple onsen and is also open for day-use bathing. There is also a Japanese-style tatami room that sleeps up to 7 with futon bedding, giving families a wide choice of rooms.
Rooms
Every room has an ocean view, and all 133 rooms are non-smoking. Sizes and capacities vary by room type: the top-floor Twin Room Type A is 35.6 sq m for 1 to 4 guests, and Suite Room Type B is 61.0 sq m for 1 to 4 guests. Japanese-style tatami room Type B, which uses futon bedding, is 35.6 sq m with 10 tatami mats and sleeps up to 4. Japanese-style tatami room Type A consists of two connecting rooms totaling 48.8 sq m, with 10 and 8 tatami mats, and sleeps up to 7, so it also suits large family trips. One Japanese-Western room with an outdoor terrace has two single beds 110 cm wide plus futon bedding laid out in a 4.5-tatami space, for up to 4 guests. Another Japanese-Western room has two single beds 97 cm wide plus futon bedding in a 4.5-tatami space, also for up to 4 guests. Child rates apply from age 6, and children under 6 stay by co-sleeping with no meals or bedding provided. Co-sleeping is limited to one child per regular bed. If a child under 6 needs a bed, an additional charge applies.
Dining
Dinner and breakfast are served in the main dining room Kamome. Dinner runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The buffet restaurant provides children's tableware, and some restaurants also offer a children's menu. When a co-sleeping child aged 4 or over has a meal, a separate charge applies; children aged 3 and under eat free of charge. Allergy accommodation is limited to the specified allergenic ingredients that must be labeled by law, and guests who would like it must notify the hotel in advance. The sushi restaurant Rakukai has only 9 counter seats and cannot accommodate allergies.
