Atagawa Takami Hotel is a lone ryokan standing on high ground in Atagawa Onsen. The building dates from the Showa era; there is no elevator, so reaching the guest rooms means going up and down stairs. Rooms
Every room has an ocean view. The standard Japanese-style tatami rooms range from 8-mat rooms for 2 to 4 guests up to connecting tatami rooms for 5 to 8 guests, which have no bath or toilet in the room. Rooms with an open-air bath come as 8-mat rooms for 2 to 4 guests and as a 17.5-mat type for 4 to 7 guests, made up of a 10-mat and a 7.5-mat room. This is a long-established ryokan built in the Showa era, and with no elevator, reaching the guest rooms means going up and down stairs. If you are traveling with a lot of luggage, you can consult the front desk at check-in.
Dining
Dinner is a seaside kaiseki course built around a whole simmered kinmedai (splendid alfonsino), and both dinner and breakfast are normally served as in-room dining. Guests staying in the large rooms dine in a private dining space instead. Children's rates are set in several categories according to age and whether meals and futon bedding are included, and there is also a limited-period plan on which the children's rate is halved.
Baths and Onsen
The natural onsen water is 100% flowing straight from the ryokan's own spring source, and the separate communal baths for men and women are open 24 hours. The large view open-air bath is mixed bathing until 6 p.m. (wearing a towel is permitted), women-only from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and can be booked for private use at no charge from 8 p.m. to midnight. There are 7 rooms with an open-air bath, where the family can have the onsen to themselves at any hour of the day.
