Kotorimura sits in Shimofunabara, Izu, Shizuoka, at the center of the Izu Peninsula where the roads to West Izu and South Izu divide. It is a Showa-era retro Japanese house, more than 60 years old, rented out as a whole to a single group. Renovated under the concept of "build while preserving," the building has a nostalgic feel: a 16-tatami living room with antique-style furniture and reclaimed wood, a purely Japanese-style dining room and an engawa veranda. Although it stands in a residential neighborhood, it is a detached building, so a family can stay as if they were simply living there. It sleeps 2 to 10 guests, and families are the most common visitors.
