Shimoda Kurofune Hotel is an onsen hotel overlooking Shimoda Port, with ocean views from every room. Rooms
All rooms have ocean views, with a wide variety of room types. The detached rooms come in three types: Utsuro, Onjaku, and Bishago. All are two-story maisonettes with a 50-square-meter living-bedroom on the upper floor, while the layout of the lower floor and type of open-air bath vary. On the lower floor, one layout has a 20-square-meter relaxation room, a shower booth, and either a cypress or a stone-tiled open-air bath; the other has a 10-tatami Japanese-style room with an indoor bath and an open-air rock bath. They accommodate from 1 to 6 guests. The Kurofune Suite (127 square meters) in the East Wing has three private baths: a sauna, cypress bath, and open-air rock bath. It accommodates up to 6 guests, with 2 people in the bedroom and futon bedding for 4 in the living room. The Junior Suite (79 to 80 square meters) and East Wing B (65 square meters and 12.5 tatami mats), also in the East Wing, have Meiseki open-air baths and cypress indoor baths. The Center Tower has standard Japanese-style rooms with 12 tatami mats, while the West Wing has standard rooms with 8 to 10 tatami mats. The West Wing rooms have no bath or shower, only a toilet, so guests cannot bathe in the room and must use the communal bath. Parking is underground and free of charge, but vehicle height is limited to 2.3 m and spaces are limited to one vehicle per room. During summer, from late July to late August, a shuttle runs to nearby Sotoura Beach. Departures from the hotel are at 9:45 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m.; the 4:30 p.m. run is a return trip from the beach only. The one-way trip takes about 5 minutes.
