Hotels with Nursing Room

It's especially well suited to families traveling with a baby who is mainly on breast milk or formula, from newborn through around age one. During the months when feedings are frequent, having a calm spot and hot water for formula somewhere in the hotel means you don't have to keep returning to your room, which makes outings and mealtimes much easier to get through. Once a baby is closer to weaning, you'll likely use it less.

It's reassuring to check whether the nursing room is a dedicated private room or just a corner of a shared space. Whether hot water for formula is available at all times, and whether using the room requires a reservation, also varies by hotel. Since hotels with a nursing room are still limited, it's worth asking about the location and how it works when you book if this matters to you.

Most general booking sites let you filter by major facilities, but not by something like an in-house nursing room. To begin with, only 14 hotels nationwide have one, and it's often mentioned only briefly within a hotel's general facility description, so it takes extra effort for families traveling with kids to track one down.

There are 2 each in Atami, Shizuoka Prefecture, and Onna Village, Okinawa Prefecture, along with others near Kyoto Station and in Fujiyoshida (Yamanashi Prefecture), Ise-Shima (Mie Prefecture), and Kamogawa (Chiba Prefecture). With only 14 nationwide, the numbers are still small, and they're currently scattered around the country mainly at large hotels and family-oriented resorts.

It's typically a free, in-house amenity, though how it's offered varies by hotel: some simply designate a corner of a shared space for nursing. As of 2026, this isn't always clearly documented, so if you definitely want to use it, it's best to confirm the location and how it works when you book.
