forumWhat families say
Rakuten Travel rating 4.62 out of 5 (4,614 reviews). Many guests say the spacious grounds and wide range of activities kept their children delighted. Families with babies praise the toys in the baby-friendly rooms, the baby baths and the baby-bottle sterilizing items, and small touches such as Crocs for wearing outdoors are also appreciated. On the other hand, guests point out that the many stairs and slopes make strollers and wheelchairs difficult, and that getting to the restaurant and elsewhere is hard work on rainy days.

Overview
Anda no Mori Izu Ippekiko is a resort in Ito, Shizuoka, where detached villas, the Garden Building and the Forest Building stand on grounds of 4,000 tsubo (a traditional Japanese unit of area). Some rooms come with play equipment, such as the Paseland Rooms, which are always stocked with a crib and a baby bath, and baby food and formula are free at both breakfast and dinner. Every activity on the grounds is free, including the playroom, the train room and the Norimono Hiroba vehicle play area. There is a communal bath with alkaline simple spring water, plus free private-hire open-air baths that need no reservation. Children aged 0 to 2 stay free of charge.
Rooms
Guest rooms are divided among the detached villas, the Garden Building and the Forest Building. There are 10 room types in all, and every room is non-smoking. All Garden Building rooms are 50 sq m, and each has its own bath, which has a TV and can be used 24 hours a day. The Forest Building rooms also have their own indoor bath.
In the Garden Building, the Paseland Room (a Japanese-Western room) is fitted with play equipment and always stocked with a crib, a baby bath and other baby items. With 2 single beds plus 3 futon sets laid out, it sleeps up to 5 guests. The Paseland Room suite fully stocked with kids' goods (a Western-style Hollywood twin) is a single Western-style room on the 2nd floor. It has 2 double beds and 1 pull-out single bed, sleeps up to 5, and always has a baby bath, baby soap and more. The Bali-style Japanese-Western room comes with either twin or double beds, and futon bedding for 3 is laid out in its Japanese-style tatami room with Ryukyu tatami, so it sleeps up to 5.
In the Forest Building, the Western-style Twin is 40 sq m for 1 to 4 guests, the Modern Western-style Double and Twin are 40 sq m for 1 to 2 guests, and the Family & Group Japanese-Western room is 50 sq m for 2 to 5 guests. The Western-style Twin and the Family & Group room are a little farther away, a 3-minute walk from the main front desk. The Forest Building's Modern Western-style Hollywood Twin puts two 160 cm-wide queen beds together, so up to 4 guests can stay with co-sleeping. The Detached Villa Suite is a 115 sq m, two-story 2LDK (two bedrooms plus a living, dining and kitchen area). Its 2 bedrooms hold 2 double beds and 3 single beds, and it has an 18-tatami-mat living room and a mini kitchen, sleeping 3 to 7 guests.
Dining
Breakfast and dinner are both buffets at the restaurant Pasar, on the 1st floor of Forest Building C; in-room dining is not available. Dinner has a 90-minute limit. The buffet includes dishes for children, such as sausages, udon, fried chicken and Japanese rolled omelet at breakfast and a chocolate fountain at dinner. Baby food is free at both breakfast and dinner: Morinaga Baby Food and Wakodo products for ages 5 months to 1 year 4 months, along with formula and children's bibs, all free of charge. The restaurant has Bumbo seats, reclining high-low beds and chairs, and children's cutlery such as silicone spoons and food cutters, plus a microwave. On the Standard Plan (one night with three meals), dinner includes all-you-can-drink, and during bar time from 6 p.m. to midnight, drinks and light snacks are also free. Bar time is held at two venues, Pasar and Purushiru, and guests with children of elementary school age and under use Pasar.
Baths and Onsen
The spring water is an alkaline simple spring, gentle and soft on the skin. The communal onsen bath Aile, which has an open-air bath, is open from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. the next morning and from 5 a.m. to noon. There are 5 free private-hire open-air baths (some information gives the number as 7). They need no reservation and work on a free-use basis, so if one is vacant, your family can go in together as many times as you like. The private-hire open-air baths are open from 5 a.m. to noon and from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. the next morning, and you bring towels from your room. The women's changing room at the communal bath has a diaper-changing table. The hotel advises that children who are not yet out of diapers can also use the communal bath, and baby baths are provided in various places. Baby soap is available at the communal bath and at every private-hire open-air bath. Whether children in diapers may get into the tubs is not stated, so if this matters to you, please confirm before booking. Children can use the communal bath with a parent of the opposite sex up to roughly age 6.
