Overview

Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Wanwan Resort Okayama Yubara is an onsen inn in Yubara Onsen exclusively for guests traveling with a dog, and guests without a dog cannot stay. Rooms are mainly Japanese-style tatami rooms ranging from 8 tatami mats up to 18-21 mats, including a tatami room that sleeps up to 8. The tatami rooms with an open-air bath are on basement level 1 and can be reached by stairs only. The restaurant has children's tableware and chairs, and baby food is provided free of charge. The communal baths have baby baths, baby chairs and more, and the changing room of the women's communal bath has a baby bed, free of charge. Preschool-age children aged 3 and over are charged and are booked in the category with meals and futon bedding.

Rooms

The property reopens after renovation on December 5, 2026. It was previously Terunoyu, also an Ooedo Onsen Monogatari inn. There are 57 rooms in all, mainly Japanese-style tatami rooms. Tatami rooms without an in-room bath come in several types: the Economy room for up to 3 guests (8 tatami mats), the Standard room (10 mats, 1 to 4 guests), the Standard room for up to 5 guests (13 mats) and the Standard 18-21 Mat room (18 mats, 1 to 8 guests). The airweave Sound Sleep Room, a Standard tatami room of 10 mats for 1 to 5 guests, also has no in-room bath. The Standard tatami room with an in-room bath (10 mats) sleeps 1 to 5. The Superior tatami rooms with an open-air bath come in 8 mats (up to 3 guests) and 10 mats (1 to 4 guests). They are on basement level 1, with no elevator and stairs only, so you will need to carry your stroller. The Tenku-an suite is 103 sq m, with a 12-mat tatami room plus a twin room, and sleeps 1 to 7. Every room has been renovated, with flooring that keeps dogs from slipping and a dog play space. The in-room baths, the open-air baths in the rooms that have them, and the view bath in Tenku-an, a Japanese-Western twin suite, all use onsen water.

Dining

Breakfast and dinner are both served in the restaurant, and in-room dining is not available. Dinner is from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Meal times cannot be reserved in advance; preferred times are taken in order of check-in. The restaurant has children's tableware and chairs, and free baby food is available if you ask the staff. Some plans include dishes that are served only to elementary school children and older. There are no individual meals for food allergies, and the hotel does not provide ingredient labeling for each dish or answer detailed questions about ingredients. Guests with allergies may bring in food and tableware that are safe for them.

Baths and Onsen

The inn is in Yubara Onsen, and the spring water is an alkaline simple spring (water is added and heated, and part of it is recirculated and filtered). There are 3 open-air baths, including a garden open-air bath, and 2 communal baths, and the baths are swapped between men and women. The communal baths and open-air baths are open from 3 p.m. to midnight and from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. The garden open-air bath is for women from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and for men from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. the next morning. All hours exclude times when the baths are drained for cleaning. There is a mist sauna inside the communal baths. Children aged 7 and over, or 120 cm tall or more, use the bath for their own gender. Children's bath equipment such as baby baths and baby chairs is provided in the communal baths. The changing room of the women's communal bath has a baby bed, free of charge, and the communal bath facilities also include children's bath chairs and a diaper bin. Whether children who are not yet out of diapers can use the communal baths is not specified, so please check with the hotel in advance. The communal baths are on basement level 1, down a flight of about 15 steps. Towels are not provided at the baths, so bring the ones from your room. Guests with tattoos may use the communal baths only if the tattoos can be completely covered with the hotel's designated cover seals, which are sold for a fee. There are 2 private-hire baths you can enter with your dog, Oborozuki and Shogetsu, both with hinoki (Japanese cypress) tubs. They cost 2,200 yen for 45 minutes and hold up to 3 people; advance reservations are not taken, and bookings are accepted on the day.

Family-Friendly Features

Because the property is exclusively for guests traveling with dogs, families without a dog cannot stay. Dogs must be indoor dogs with basic training, and you need vaccination certificates for rabies and for a combination vaccine covering 5 or more diseases (valid for 1 year from the vaccination date). A separate facility fee of 3,200 yen per dog per night is paid at the front desk. Preschool-age children aged 3 and over are charged and booked in the category with meals and futon bedding, while children under 3 are booked in the category without meals or futon bedding. The under-3 category does not include futon bedding; adding a futon costs an extra 3,200 yen and requires advance notice. Because of the room sizes, futons cannot be added beyond a room's capacity. Information on baby futons, cribs or bed guards for use in guest rooms is not listed in our information, and neither is whether co-sleeping is allowed or what it costs, so please confirm these with the hotel. The guest rooms have steps and are not barrier-free. The building has a table-tennis corner (free), a manga corner (free), games to borrow (free) and a karaoke room (fee applies), but information on a playroom is not listed in our information. There is no coin laundry on-site.
