Mitsui Garden Hotel Okayama

forumWhat families say

The hotel reopened after a full renovation on August 9, 2026. Its appeal for families is convenience: a 2-minute walk from the East Exit of JR Okayama Station, at the gateway to Korakuen and Okayama Castle, making it a base for sightseeing with children; the renovation increased family-friendly rooms for 3 guests from 8 to 51; there is a communal bath on the 10th floor that is free for staying guests; and cribs are available to borrow free of charge. Even before the renovation, guests praised the location and value for money.

Overview

Mitsui Garden Hotel Okayama is a 2-minute walk from the Korakuen Exit of JR Okayama Station. The whole hotel was renovated in August 2026 and has 297 rooms. Children who have not yet started elementary school may co-sleep, up to one child per bed, and a crib appears in the list of room equipment. The 10th floor has a communal bath reserved for staying guests, free of charge, and breakfast is a Japanese-Western buffet built around local Okayama ingredients. Rooms that sleep 3 are also available, making the hotel a workable choice for families.

Rooms

With the full renovation in August 2026, the room lineup consists of the Standard Double (14.2 sq m, bed width 139 cm), Standard Queen (17.1 sq m, bed width 163 cm), Standard Twin (20 sq m, bed width 110 cm) and Superior Twin (26.4 sq m, bed width 110 cm), plus the Superior Twin with Day Bed (26.4 sq m, bed width 110 cm), which sleeps 3. Because rooms for 3 guests are available, families with young children can more easily stay together in one room. Each room type has a set children's rate. Every room comes with an air purifier with a humidifying function and a safety box as standard, and toilets have a bidet function.

Dining

Breakfast is a Japanese-Western buffet served at GARDEN CAFE on the first floor from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. (last entry 9:30 a.m.) for 2,530 yen including tax. Built around fresh vegetables from Okayama Prefecture, it offers more than 20 Japanese and Western dishes, including regional specialties such as Okayama's ebimeshi (shrimp rice) and vinegar-pickled mamakari. The number of meals for a child follows the meal conditions of the accommodation plan you book. Room service is not available.

Baths

The 10th floor has GREEN BATH, a communal bath reserved for staying guests, free to use from 3 p.m. until 9 a.m. the following morning. It looks out over a garden and provides shampoo, conditioner, body soap, cotton swabs, a hair dryer and basic skincare products, but towels and amenities must be brought from your room. It is not an onsen, and there is no open-air bath or private-hire bath.

Family-friendly features

Children under school age may co-sleep, up to one child per bed, and the hotel notes that children ages 0 to 5 may stay with co-sleeping. A crib appears in the list of room equipment and amenities, so if you need one it is worth confirming when you book. A mixed-bathing age limit applies to children using the communal bath, so it is also worth checking in advance up to what age children can bathe together. Childcare service is not offered.

Access

The hotel is a 2-minute walk from the Korakuen Exit (East Exit) of JR Okayama Station. Korakuen, one of Japan's three great gardens, is about 15 minutes away by bus, or about 25 minutes by tram and on foot. The hotel's own parking is a multi-level structure for vehicles up to 1.55 m in height and under 5.0 m in length, at 1,200 yen per night (3 p.m. to 11 a.m. the next day, first-come, first-served).
