TAOYA Minamishima is an all-inclusive onsen resort standing on the shore looking out over the Pacific Ocean, where alcohol at dinner, drinks in the lounge and the on-site services are almost all covered by the room rate. Alongside Japanese-style tatami rooms and Japanese-Western rooms, there are Japanese-Western rooms with an open-air bath as well as twin, triple and Fours rooms, and the rooms for 5 or 6 guests give a family plenty of space. The restaurant has children's tableware and chairs and can provide baby food, a baby bed is set up free of charge in the communal bath changing room, and the bathing area is equipped with a baby bath, a baby chair and a diaper bin. Breakfast and dinner are both buffets in the restaurant; in-room dining is not offered.
Rooms
There are 93 rooms in all, in a wide range of types: Japanese-style tatami rooms and Japanese-Western rooms as well as twins, triples and Fours. The Standard Japanese-style tatami room for 4 guests is 38 m² with a bath and toilet. The Standard Japanese-Western twin comes in 5-guest and 6-guest versions, some with a shower only and some with a bath and toilet. Also available are the Standard two-room Japanese-style tatami room, the Standard Triple for 4 guests, the Superior Fours for 4 guests, the Standard Twin for 3 guests, the Superior Twin and the Superior two-room Japanese-style tatami room. The Standard Triple is 50 m² with a shower and toilet, and the Superior Fours is 61 m² with a bath and toilet. In Japanese-Western twin rooms for 5 guests or more and in twin rooms, a sofa bed or an extra bed is provided when 3 or more guests stay, and the same applies in a triple used by 4 guests. There are rooms with an open-air bath too, such as the Superior Japanese-Western Triple with open-air bath and the Standard Japanese-Western Twin with open-air bath for 5 guests. The tubs in the rooms with an open-air bath are not fed by the hot spring. A humidifier is available to borrow for your room, so you can ask about one in drier seasons.
Dining
Breakfast and dinner are both buffets in the restaurant, and there is no in-room dining option. The restaurant Sera serves dinner from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.; dinner is limited to 90 minutes and breakfast to 60 minutes. Hours may change depending on the number of guests staying that day. The restaurant has children's tableware and chairs, and baby food is available as well - just ask a staff member for it. On food allergies, the Ooedo-Onsen Monogatari group states that individually adapted meals are not prepared, and that because meals are served buffet-style, ingredients are not labeled dish by dish. Guests may, however, bring in food and tableware they know to be safe. The stay is all-inclusive, so alcohol at dinner is free of charge. À la carte dishes that add seasonal ingredients to dinner, and anniversary cakes, carry a separate charge.
Baths and Onsen
The spring water is a sodium chloride cold mineral spring, with water added, heated, and circulated through a filtration system. Because the cold mineral spring is under 25°C and is warmed before use, it is easy to soak for a long time without feeling faint, which suits bathing with children who tend to linger in the water. The communal bath and open-air bath are open from 3 p.m. to midnight and from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m., apart from times when the baths are drained for cleaning. Children aged 7 and over, or 120 cm and taller, use the bath for their own gender. Whether children who are not yet out of diapers may enter the tubs is not stated, so please confirm in advance. Guests with tattoos cannot use the communal bath, unless the tattoo can be completely covered with the cover seals designated by the property, which are sold for a fee.
