Overview
Inishie no Yado Iku is a 58-room onsen ryokan a 15-minute walk from the Inner Shrine (Naiku) of Ise Grand Shrine. It reopened after renovation on April 1, 2026, and every room has its own open-air bath. Rooms have Japanese-style beds set on tatami floors, and include Japanese-Western rooms for up to 4 guests and Japanese Triple rooms for up to 3. The communal baths and 2 of the 3 private-hire baths use natural onsen water (the marble bath, Shiraishi no Yu, is not an onsen), and the private-hire baths need no reservation and carry no additional charge. Cribs are available, baby food can be warmed, and there is a kids' plate for children under school age. Co-sleeping is limited to one child per bed.
Rooms
This 58-room ryokan reopened after renovation on April 1, 2026, and all rooms are non-smoking. Rooms have Japanese-style beds set on tatami floors, and every room has its own open-air bath. For 4 guests, there is the Japanese-Western room (42 sq m, up to 4 guests), where one bedroom connects to a spacious Japanese-style tatami room. For 3 guests, choose the Japanese Triple (37 sq m, up to 3 guests) with three Japanese-style beds, or the Japanese Deluxe Twin (37 sq m, up to 3 guests, with the third guest sleeping on a daybed), where a twin bedroom connects to a spacious tatami room. Rooms for 2 guests are the Japanese Twin (27-29 sq m), the Japanese Double (21 sq m) and the Japanese Deluxe Double (29 sq m). There is just one barrier-free Japanese-style twin room (the Universal Room), on the 1st floor: 27 sq m, for up to 2 guests, with two single beds 110 cm wide. The 2 special rooms each have a private entrance and an open-air bath with natural onsen water, and sleep up to 2 guests. Co-sleeping is limited to one child per bed.
Dining
Dinner and breakfast are served at the Shozan dining hall; in-room dining is not available. Dinner is a kaiseki (traditional multi-course) meal that changes monthly. On plans with dinner there are two seatings, at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Times are assigned in order of check-in, so you may not get your preferred time. For breakfast you can choose a Japanese or a Western set meal. Upper elementary school children have a dinner based on the adult menu, while lower elementary school children and children under school age get a kids' plate at both dinner and breakfast. For children aged 3 and over who have not yet started school, meals come with a rice bowl, chopsticks and a children's chair. There are no fully private rooms, but there are semi-private booths that are open at the ceiling, and seats cannot be reserved. Depending on the size of your group, guests from the same room may be seated separately. For food allergies, a low-allergen menu with the 28 specified allergenic ingredients removed is available, and you need to let the ryokan know by 2 days before your stay. The number of ingredients covered is given as 28 in some places and 29 in others, so please confirm before booking. Individual changes to ingredients or cooking methods are not accommodated.
Baths and Onsen
There are two communal baths, the rock bath Mori no Yu and the hinoki (Japanese cypress) bath Yashiro no Yu, which switch between men and women in the morning and evening. The water in the communal baths and private-hire baths is natural onsen water brought from Choju no Yu at Shin-Misato Onsen; the spring water is an alkaline simple onsen (a hypotonic alkaline low-temperature spring). However, the 3 individual open-air tubs at Yashiro no Yu use heated water rather than onsen water. The 3 private-hire baths are Ise no Yu (a hinoki bath), Aotake no Yu (a stone bath) and Shiraishi no Yu (a marble bath), and no reservation is needed. Natural onsen water is piped into Ise no Yu and Aotake no Yu, while Shiraishi no Yu is not an onsen. The private-hire baths carry no additional charge, and each visit is about 30-40 minutes as a guide. Towels are not provided at either the communal baths or the private-hire baths, and the private-hire baths have no soap or other toiletries, so bring the bath basket from your room. The in-room open-air baths are not onsen; the only open-air baths with natural onsen water are in the 2 special rooms. To bathe on your own as a family, you can use your in-room open-air bath or a private-hire bath. Whether children in diapers may get into the tubs of the communal or private-hire baths is not stated, so please confirm in advance.
