Country Hotel Stardust is a small hotel, in business for 40 years, set in a quiet vacation-home area looking out toward Mount Fuji and Lake Yamanaka. It has only 6 guest rooms. Regular renovations keep the building feeling clean and fresh, and its small scale brings the kind of attentive hospitality that only a place this size can offer. A gate stands at the entrance to the vacation-home area, and staying guests are given the password before check-in.

Japanese-Western rooms that families appreciate

The rooms that suit families are the two-room Japanese-Western rooms, where a Western-style room connects to a tatami Japanese-style room. The Western-style room has 2 semi-double beds, and 2 sets of futon bedding can be laid out in the Japanese-style tatami room, so babies at the crawling stage can spend time on the tatami with peace of mind. If you would like more space, there is also a suite for up to 4 guests. Every room has an en-suite bathroom, underfloor heating, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi.

The resident chef's European full course and a short magic show

Dinner is a creative European full course built on local ingredients, including herbs grown in the garden. Everything from the appetizer through soup, fish, meat and dessert is carefully prepared, and chopsticks are set on the table alongside knives and forks, which makes the meal easier for young children. Dessert comes with a picture drawn in fruit sauce, and for anniversaries a whole cake can be arranged on a separate plan. Toward the end of dinner, a magician moves from table to table with a short magic show using playing cards and rings.

The 3rd-floor dining room and playroom, and the private-hire bath

The dining room and playroom on the 3rd floor is a shared space that staying guests can use at any time, not only at mealtimes, with Othello, shogi and card games on hand. From the adjoining balcony you can look out at Mount Fuji and watch wild birds. The bath is a European-style blower bath (a bubble bath) that can be booked for private use by room. It is not a natural onsen; the water is heated groundwater fed by subsurface flows from Mount Fuji, and the bath is roomy enough for a family of 4 to 5 to bathe together. Access

About 10 km from the Yamanakako Interchange on the Chuo Expressway. By train, it is about 25 minutes by local bus from Fujiyoshida Station on the Fujikyuko Line; after getting off at the Fujisan Yamanakako (Hotel Mount Fuji Iriguchi) stop, a taxi from near the bus stop is convenient. Parking is free for 6 cars, with no reservation needed.
