Each cottage has a kitchen with a two-burner gas cooktop, dishes and cooking utensils, so families and groups can cook for themselves or barbecue on the terrace. Breakfast and dinner plans at the restaurant building can also be chosen.

A large cottage village on a 42,000 sq m site by Lake Yamanaka

Village Kagetsuen Yamanakako is a cottage and rental-villa resort in the Hirano area of Yamanakako village, with 43 cottages on a 42,000 sq m site. Alongside the cottage area, the grounds include the main building (check-in and the restaurant), a tennis court, an outdoor barbecue area, a dog run and a multipurpose hall, welcoming families, groups and travelers with pets. Check-in takes place at the main building between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

43 cottages, with pet-friendly options

Guests stay in 43 cottages, some of which allow pets and some of which do not. Private cottages where you can stay with a large dog are also available, making it a good fit for family trips with a dog. If you arrive with more than one car, the parking space may be some distance from your cottage. The loop road around the cottages is one-way and has sharp curves, so please drive with care.

By car: 10 minutes from Yamanakako IC on the Higashi-Fuji Goko Road, 20 minutes from Shin-Gotemba IC on the Shin-Tomei Expressway, and 30 minutes from Gotemba IC on the Tomei Expressway. By bus: get off at the Asahigaoka Bus Terminal and walk about 10 minutes.

Things to note

  • Neither the cottages nor the main building has air conditioning (please check before a summer stay)
  • Because of the natural setting, insects and wild deer may appear
  • As a rule, one car per cottage; a second or further car may have to park farther away
  • For stays of 2 nights or more, staff generally do not come in to clean the room
  • The front desk is open until 9 p.m., and even without dinner, check-in is possible until around 8 p.m.
  • Pajamas, bath towels and amenities are not provided, so please bring your own

A sample plate includes mini omurice, salad, a mini Hamburg steak, soup, karaage fried chicken, dessert, fried shrimp and juice.
