A Homey Family-Run Inn Near Kawaguchiko Station

Ryokan Eiwa is a warm, homey minshuku ryokan (a small family-run inn) about a 10-minute walk from Kawaguchiko Station on the Fujikyuko Line, along the Subaru Line road. It sits close to Lake Kawaguchi, Fuji-Q Highland and the entrance to the Subaru Line, the road up to the fifth station of Mount Fuji, which makes it an easy staging point between lakeside sightseeing and more active days out. Along with the main building there is an annex, and the guest rooms on the annex's second floor look out toward Mount Fuji.

Guest Rooms and Facilities

Rooms include Japanese-style tatami rooms of 6 to 10 tatami mats as well as Western-style rooms, sleeping 1 to 4 guests. The bath, toilet and refrigerator are shared, and the Western-style rooms hold two single beds measuring 97 cm by 195 cm. Each room comes with a TV, individually controlled air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, yukata and a toothbrush set. The shared areas have a water server with hot and cold water and a coin laundry for a fee, so the ryokan works well for longer stays and consecutive nights on a business trip. Guests lay out their own futon bedding. All rooms are non-smoking.

Separate Communal Baths for Men and Women, Open 24 Hours

The baths are separate communal baths for men and women, and guests may use them freely around the clock, apart from after 8 a.m., when they close for cleaning. The water is heated rather than drawn from a hot spring, so it is not an onsen. The guest rooms have no bathroom of their own, so bathing is done in the shared baths.

Breakfast and Dinner Both Served at the Inn

Breakfast is served from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. and dinner from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; other times can be discussed. A room-only plan is available as well. Credit cards and a range of QR code payments are accepted.

Points to Note When Staying with Children

Children's rates can be checked through Rakuten Travel and Yahoo! Travel. Up to 2 children may co-sleep; elementary school children pay 70% of the adult rate, infants and preschool-age children with futon bedding but no meals pay 40% of the adult rate, and those with neither bedding nor meals pay 1,320 yen. Plans that include meals for infants and preschool-age children are not accepted, and baby food and similar services are not part of what the inn offers. It suits families who are comfortable with a shared bath and toilet, and the old-fashioned minshuku style of the whole family sleeping side by side on futons in a Japanese-style tatami room fits it well. In winter, come prepared with tire chains or snow tires.

Access and Parking

About a 10-minute walk from Kawaguchiko Station on the Fujikyuko Line, along the Subaru Line road. By car it is about 3 minutes from the Kawaguchiko IC on the Chuo Expressway, heading along the Subaru Line toward Kawaguchiko. Parking is free for 20 cars and needs no reservation. Check-in is from 3 p.m., with the latest check-in at midnight, and checkout is at 10 a.m. The entrance is locked from 11 p.m., so if you plan to go out at night, let the front desk know before you leave.
