Five Two-Story Cottages, Each Rented as a Whole Building

Cottage Superba Vista Kawaguchiko is a group of five vacation-rental cottages in central Kawaguchiko. The name "Superba vista" means "spectacular view" in Italian, and the property looks out toward Mount Fuji. There are two types: the ABC type (three separate two-story cottages, each sleeping up to 10 guests) and the D type (D-1 and D-2, which connect, from 6 guests in one building up to a maximum of 24). Each cottage is a detached, standalone building. The first floor has a spotlessly clean living room and a spacious kitchen, and the second floor has two Western-style rooms.

A Private Indoor Bath and Open-Air Bath for Each Cottage

Every cottage comes with its own indoor bath and open-air bath. The outdoor open-air bath is wrapped in the scent of wood and is built so that women and families can bathe with peace of mind, without worrying about other guests. In winter, from December to February, guests may need to refrain from using the open-air bath depending on the weather, so it is reassuring to check in advance during the cold season. In-room amenities include towels, toothbrushes, a hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner and body soap. Bedding is a full set of duvet, futon mattress, blanket, pillow and sheets, and yukata are provided, though children's yukata are not available.

Terrace BBQ and a Well-Equipped Kitchen

The terrace has a table and chairs and its own BBQ grill, so you can barbecue while taking in a spectacular view of Mount Fuji. Alongside grilling over a wire rack, the cottages are known for barbecuing on a specially made lava stone plate, which guests praise for turning out plump, juicy results. A full set of BBQ tools is available to rent for a fee; ingredients and charcoal are brought by guests. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, a full set of cooking utensils, a freezer-refrigerator, a rice cooker, a toaster, a microwave, an induction cooktop and a kettle, and seasonings are provided as well, so it works just as well for cooking your own meals as for reheating or preparing baby food. There are two toilets on the first floor, a convenient touch for larger groups. The washing machine and dryer are in a separate building.

Access and Parking

It is about 5 minutes by car from Kawaguchiko Station, about 7 minutes by car to Fuji-Q Highland, and about a 2-minute walk to a convenience store. The nearest bus stop is about 1 km away, and a dedicated bus to nearby sightseeing facilities stops 1 minute from the cottages. Each cottage has its own parking space in front of it, with 20 spaces across the property, free of charge and with no reservation required (Rakuten Travel's listing states 10 spaces, while 20 spaces are stated elsewhere). The layout makes it easy to carry your things in, even with a lot of luggage. Check-in is from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., and checkout is at 10 a.m.

A Whole-Building Rental Style Suited to Family and Group Stays

Because this is a completely private whole-building rental where you never cross paths with other guests, it suits families with children, multigenerational trips and group travel. The A, B and C cottages can be booked together as three connected buildings, and the D cottages can be booked as a pair for up to 24 guests. Japanese touches such as matcha service in your room are part of the stay as well, and the hideaway location in Kawaguchiko makes for a relaxed time. Pets are not allowed.
