Fuji Gotemba Condominium TANNPOPO is a condominium-style property about a 3-minute walk from the Fujisan-guchi exit of JR Gotemba Station. It is operated by Planning Cosmo Co., Ltd. The location is handy for shopping at Gotemba Premium Outlets and as a stopover on the way to the Fuji Five Lakes area or Hakone. The same owner also runs Fuji Subashiri Condominium over toward Subashiri.

Spacious rooms and self-catering facilities

Each room pairs a 16-tatami living room with a 6-tatami Japanese-style tatami room for a total of 54 sq m, sleeping up to 6 guests (Room 602, the "Room with a View of Mount Fuji," is one example). An induction cooktop with a hot plate, a rice cooker, a microwave, an electric kettle, a refrigerator and tableware are all provided, which suits family stays built around home cooking or takeout. Room 402 has an irori-style table — a table built around a traditional sunken hearth — that is popular with younger guests, where everyone can gather round for yakiniku or shabu-shabu. Rooms are also equipped with a 65-inch television, a DVD player, a darts game, 24-hour wired and Wi-Fi internet access, and a laptop kept in the room. Every room has its own bath and toilet.

Jacuzzi bath and artificial hot-spring equipment

The Japanese-Western rooms have a jacuzzi bath that guests can use 24 hours a day (Rooms 602 and 402). The Room with a View of Mount Fuji also has household Komyoseki Onsen artificial hot-spring equipment, the kind installed in nursing homes, but it is not an onsen. There is no communal bath, sauna or private-hire bath, so bathing centers on the in-room bath.

Staying with children and pets

This is a self-catering property for families and groups, and stays with children are welcome (one Rakuten review describes a family of 6 ranging from age 6 to 60). Pets are limited to 2 small animals weighing 7 kg or less, at 2,000 yen per animal, and guests must bring their own cage and reserve in advance. No information about children's meals or baby-item rentals appears on any of the booking sites, so it is safest to bring your own baby food and powdered formula. Since the rooms have an induction kitchen and tableware, warming baby food or cooking toddler meals is easy to manage.

Access and parking

It is a 2-3 minute walk from the Fujisan-guchi exit of JR Gotemba Station and about 5 minutes by car from the Gotemba IC on the Tomei Expressway. One car per room parks free of charge, with a charge of 1,000 yen per night from the second car onward. The parking is a two-tier stacked system with a height limit of 180 cm, so you need to tell the property your vehicle type in advance; minivans are accommodated by lowering the divider platform. This is not a hotel with a permanently staffed front desk, so it is reassuring to contact the property in advance about check-in (check-in from 3 p.m., last check-in 8 p.m.; checkout at 10 a.m.).
