Grand Mercure Awaji Island Resort & Spa is an all-inclusive hotel on high ground overlooking the Naruto Strait, within Setonaikai National Park. The room rate covers the dinner and breakfast buffets, drinks in the lounge and the communal onsen bath. Baby Room guest rooms designed for babies and toddlers, a summer-only outdoor pool and the kids lounge Shichifuku, which opened in January 2026, make the hotel easy to enjoy with children. There is, however, no private-hire bath, and none of the Japanese-style tatami rooms have sea views.
Rooms
Guest rooms are mainly twin rooms of 35 sq m or larger, accommodating 1 to 4 guests. Some types have 2 semi-double beds, with up to 2 extra beds set up according to the number of guests. The Baby Room type is designed for babies and toddlers, with baby items such as a bed guard, toys and picture books in a shoes-off bed space. There is also a Japanese-style tatami room with futon bedding for 4 (35 sq m, 10 tatami mats), but none of the Japanese-style rooms have sea views. Co-sleeping is available for up to one child per adult; children of elementary school age and older cannot co-sleep and are charged the adult rate. Cribs are not available, but bed guards can be borrowed.

Breakfast and dinner are both served buffet-style, with breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Strollers can be brought into the buffet restaurant, and chairs for young children are available in limited numbers. The kids' corner offers several children's menu items, including meatballs, warm vegetables and white rice that are easy for children to eat. Commercially prepared baby food is also available; ask the restaurant staff on the day if you would like some. The hotel has a food allergy policy, and the use of ingredients among the nine major allergens, including egg, dairy and wheat, is labeled. Le Bleu Awaji, which opened in August 2026, has no food corner for young children, so families with children who have not yet started elementary school are generally shown to Le Sensoriel, which does have one.
Baths and Onsen
The hotel has a communal onsen bath, an open-air bath and a sauna. Babies can use the onsen, but children who are not yet out of diapers are generally asked to use the bathroom in their room, and when they do use the communal onsen bath, the baby bath or baby bath chair provided in each of the men's and women's baths must be used. Body soap and shampoo suitable for young children are available, and the changing room has a baby bed. There are steps at the entrances to the changing room and the open-air bath and at the tubs, and handrails are fitted at some points to help with getting in and out. Mixed bathing is not permitted for children aged 7 and over. There is no private-hire bath, and day-use bathing is not available.

A fukimodoshi (rolled paper party blower) making experience from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. is included in the room rate, and Awaji Island accounts for about 80% of Japan's production of these toys. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, an incense-making experience is also available for 500 yen per person.
