Nagisanosou Hanagoyomi

Nagisanosou Hanagoyomi stands on Komoe Beach in Sumoto Onsen and is an onsen ryokan of the Hotel New Awaji Group, with ocean views from every room. The appeal is an unhurried stay where you choose a favorite colorful yukata and tour the baths by the sea.

The onsen draws on the Sumoto Onsen source and is an alkaline simple onsen with a smooth feel on the skin. The water is gentle and low in irritation, which makes it easy to bathe in for children with sensitive skin and for families with babies. Besides the bathing garden Kaze no Oto - Nami no Oto (Sound of the Wind, Sound of the Waves), which looks out across the sea, guests can tour two hot-spring sources and a variety of bathhouses at the group's hotels, linked by a seaside corridor. There are private-hire baths as well, so families can enjoy the onsen on their own without worrying about other guests.

Rooms are wide-ranging, starting with Haruka, a 60 sq m Japanese-Western room with its own open-air bath available 24 hours, and including 10-tatami-mat Japanese-style tatami rooms with sea views and a Japanese-style twin room. Even with a very young baby, choosing a room with an open-air bath lets you bathe whenever you like without having to think about the communal bath.

In summer, an outdoor pool opens as well, for water play with the feel of a seaside resort.

Meals are built around seasonal Awaji Island ingredients. You can savor flavors found only on the island, such as shima-nabe hot pot with Awaji beef and Awaji onions, served in the head chef's own dashi broth.

It is about 15 minutes by car from Sumoto IC. The location is convenient, with a convenience store a 5-minute walk away, and a free shuttle runs from Sumoto Highway Bus Center. Note that the outdoor pool operates in summer only, and please confirm baby rental items and meal arrangements directly with the ryokan when you book.
