En no Yado Kitahori is a traditional house in the Shiomi Nawate streetscape north of Matsue Castle, rented out in its entirety to just one group per day. All 5 rooms are Japanese-style tatami rooms, and dinner is a kaiseki (multi-course Japanese) meal served in your room. The hinoki-cypress bathroom has 2 ceramic tubs surrounded by local Kimachi stone, and up to 4 people can bathe at once. Rooms
This ryokan rents out an entire traditional house next to a samurai residence, taking only one group per day. Along the Horikawa canal there are connecting rooms of 8 and 6 tatami mats, and on the west side of the samurai residence there are three 6-tatami rooms, for a total of 5 rooms, all Japanese-style tatami rooms. The house accommodates 2 to 9 guests, so it also suits two- and three-generation family trips. Rooms have a television, kettle, refrigerator and hair dryer, and some rooms also have a humidifier.

Dinner is kaiseki cuisine made with local ingredients, and both breakfast and dinner are served in your room. Dinner is scheduled between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The bathroom is lined with hinoki cypress and holds 2 ceramic tubs surrounded by local Kimachi stone. You can bathe while looking out at the garden, and up to 4 people can use the bath at the same time.

From Matsue Station, take a bus, get off at the Kitahori stop and walk 2 minutes; by car it is about 10 minutes from the Matsue-Chuo IC on the San'in Expressway. Parking during your stay is free for up to 3 cars, though some information gives the number as 2.
