About La Vista Daisetsuzan (Kyoritsu Resort)

La Vista Daisetsuzan is a mountain-lodge-style resort hotel at Asahidake Onsen, at the foot of Mount Asahidake in the Daisetsuzan range near the center of Hokkaido. It is one of the La Vista properties run by Kyoritsu Resort (Kyoritsu Maintenance), and its classical interiors recall a European mountain lodge, with views of the 2,291 m Mount Asahidake from anywhere in the building.

Onsen

Asahidake Onsen wells up naturally from deep within old-growth forest, and its sulfate spring water flows directly from the source into a series of thoughtfully designed baths. The communal bath, Oyuya Momuni no Yu, has an open-air bath with a rock bath and a lying-down bath, an indoor hinoki cypress bath and a barrel bath, and a sauna. There are also private-hire baths that can be used free of charge, including Kupo no Yu, Kukoro no Yu and Kumichi no Yu, so a family can bathe at its own pace. Even with small children, a private-hire bath lets you take your time without worrying about other guests.

Rooms

There are six cabin-style room types: Mount View Twin, Forest View Classic (a Japanese-Western room), Comfort Twin, Deluxe Triple, Mount View Double, and Luxury Room (a Japanese-style tatami room plus a Western-style room). The Japanese-Western rooms include a relaxing tatami area, making them easy to use with small children. Every room has Simmons beds, and at the restful-sleep corner on the second floor you can choose the pillow you prefer, such as a Tempur pillow or a hinoki cypress pillow. Rooms are equipped with a humidifier, a refrigerator, a bidet toilet, a hand mill with coffee beans, and a mini kitchen.

Dining

For dinner you can choose between a creative French course and creative Japanese cuisine featuring Karyudoyaki grilled dishes and Ezo nabe hot pot. Breakfast is a Japanese-Western buffet with a wide selection, so everyone in the family can pick what they like. A low-allergen menu that takes food allergies into account is also available, and discussing it in advance is recommended.

Staying with children

Children aged 2 and under can co-sleep free of charge, though the conditions may differ depending on the plan. Because the private-hire baths carry no charge, families traveling with a baby who is not yet out of diapers can easily bathe on their own. Please check with the hotel about whether children who are not yet out of diapers may use the communal bath.

Access and parking

About 60 minutes by car from JR Asahikawa Station and about 2 hours 30 minutes by car from Sapporo. In winter, typically from December to early April, snowfall and icy roads mean you will need winter tires or chains. A free shuttle bus from Asahikawa Station also runs, mainly in winter; a reservation is required, and operating days should be checked on the official website. Parking for 54 cars is available at no charge, with no reservation required. The location is also a convenient base for Asahiyama Zoo and for sightseeing in Biei and Furano.
