Meals can be taken either at the buffet restaurant Gesshu on the second floor or at the Japanese restaurant Kumonami, which has private rooms. Breakfast is a buffet of about 140 items, one of the largest in Hokkaido, served from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. (last order 9:30 a.m.). Dinner is a Japanese buffet of about 150 items, also one of the largest in Hokkaido, served from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. (last order 8:30 p.m.). Because Kumonami has private rooms, families can eat there without worrying about the people around them.

Baths and Onsen

The communal bath Tenkai, on the 12th floor at the top of the building, has five kinds of baths each for men and women, including the open-air bath Inishie no Mugen Kaito, which looks out across the Tsugaru Strait, and a tatami bath of a kind rarely found in Japan. On the tatami bath, there is no need to worry about footing, so everyone from children to older guests can bathe with peace of mind. No age restriction is set for children, including those under school age, using the communal bath, so anyone can use it. There are also two private-hire open-air baths, Hoshi no Yu and Tsuki no Yu, available from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. (last entry 10 p.m.) at 3,850 yen per hour including tax, by reservation only, giving families time in the onsen on their own.

From JR Hakodate Station, take the bus to Nettai Shokubutsuen-mae and walk 1 minute; by streetcar, ride from Hakodate Ekimae, get off at Yunokawa Onsen and walk 12 minutes; by taxi it is about 13 minutes and roughly 2,200 yen. Parking is available free of charge.
