Jozankei View Hotel is a large resort hotel in Jozankei Onsen. Staying guests can use the Water Kingdom Lagoon indoor heated pool free of charge; at 4,000 sq m in total area, it is one of the largest in Hokkaido, and it includes a 15 cm-deep children's pool, a nursing room and a diaper-changing space. There are two onsen baths: Yusuikyo, a communal bath with an open-air bath and a sauna, and Seiten, a panoramic communal bath 60 m above the ground. Buffets with about 60 dishes round out the stay.
Rooms
The main building and the new building hold a wide range of rooms, including Japanese-style tatami rooms, Western-style rooms and Japanese-Western rooms, and every room is non-smoking. The main building's tatami rooms come in 8-10 tatami mats and 20 tatami mats (two connected 10-tatami rooms); they have few changes in floor level, so families with young children can settle in with peace of mind. The main building's Western-style twin is 30 sq m for 1-2 guests, with two beds 120 cm wide by 200 cm long. The main building's Japanese-Western rooms pair a 6-tatami Japanese-style area with twin beds, so futon sleepers and bed sleepers can share one room. The new building's Western-style twin is a roomy 33-43 sq m with two generous 120 cm-wide beds, and an extra bed can be added. The new building's tatami rooms come in 10 and 15 tatami mats, while its Japanese-Western rooms pair a 10- to 12-tatami Japanese-style area with twin beds. The new building's corner suite covers 150 sq m and offers a 180-degree panorama from the windows.
Dining
Dinner and breakfast are both buffets of about 60 dishes, with Japanese, Western and Chinese cooking made from seasonal ingredients. A breakfast favorite is the "Asa kara Jibun Katte Don," a rice bowl you pile with as much seafood as you like. Children's chairs are available both in the restaurant hall and in the dining area, though those in the restaurant hall are small chairs without belts and limited in number. The buffet hall has a chart covering the 7 major allergens (egg, wheat, buckwheat, peanut, dairy, shrimp and crab), but because cooking utensils and the kitchen are shared, trace amounts of unlisted allergens may be mixed in. Baths and Onsen
The hotel has two communal baths where you can enjoy Jozankei's celebrated hot spring water. Yusuikyo, on basement floors 1 and 2 of the main building, is a communal bath with a variety of tubs including an open-air bath, jet baths and a sauna. Seiten, on the 16th floor of the new building, is a panoramic communal bath looking out over Jozankei from 60 m above the ground, and the rooftop has an open-air bath that alternates between men and women. The spring water is a sodium chloride spring, said to ease symptoms such as neuralgia, muscle pain and sensitivity to cold.
Water Kingdom Lagoon and the Pools
Staying guests can use the Water Kingdom Lagoon indoor heated pool free of charge; with a total area of 4,000 sq m, it is one of the largest in Hokkaido. Its many features include the Splash River, a 50-meter ride down, a wave pool where the waves roll in, and a lazy river. At Palpal, a shallow pool 15 cm deep, and on the colorful slides, even toddling babies can play as long as they wear a swim diaper. A nursing room and a diaper-changing space are also provided. There is also Kids Plaza, a shallow area with a seesaw, swings and water guns. Hours are from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., with last admission at 8 p.m.

Up to 2 children can co-sleep, and children from age 3 up to those who have not yet started elementary school are booked under the "preschool child: meals and futon bedding included" category. Infants aged 1-2 require a facility admission fee of 2,750 yen including tax, while children under 1 are free. Children from age 3 through elementary school pay 70% of the adult rate. The Western-style rooms have no bed guards, and the beds cannot be moved, so a gap is left between them; if that worries you, booking a Japanese-style tatami room is recommended. The shop sells disposable diapers, cooling sheets and baby wipes, and children's items such as a diaper pail, baby wipes and a baby bath are available to borrow for a fee. Humidifiers and air purifiers are also available to borrow, though numbers are limited. Cafe Sun River also serves drinks for children. During the summer holiday period, the hotel sometimes holds a Japanese festival event in front of the View Hall on the first floor, with shooting games, ring toss and bouncy-ball scooping. The free shuttle bus between Sapporo Station and the hotel requires an advance telephone reservation. Parking for 400 cars is free.
