Overview

Oarai Park Hotel is an onsen hotel in Oarai, Ibaraki, standing right in front of Aquaworld Oarai Aquarium. It reopened in March 2026 after a renovation that refreshed the interiors of every guest room. Japanese-Western rooms for up to 6 guests and rooms that can be laid out with futon bedding make it easy for families to stay. Dinner is a Japanese-Western kaiseki course and breakfast is a Japanese-Western buffet. On plans that include dinner, elementary school children pay 70% of the adult rate and children aged 3 and over who have not yet started elementary school pay 50%, although at the villa elementary school children pay the same as adults. There is an Oarai onsen communal bath and a sauna, and the bathing tax applies only to guests aged 12 and over.

Rooms

The Club Comfort Family Japanese-Western room (52 sq m) sleeps up to 6 guests and has a 3-in-1 large-screen projector and a raised-platform relaxation space; futon bedding is provided for parties of 3 or more. Other options include the Ocean View Club Superior (32 sq m, twin, for up to 4 guests, with a sofa bed for parties of 3 or more), the Club Classic (26 sq m, Western-style twin, for up to 3 guests, with a sofa bed for one guest when 3 people stay), and the Ocean View Club Jacuzzi (33 sq m, for up to 3 guests), a playful room built like a secret hideout with bunk beds and an ocean-view jacuzzi bath. On plans with dinner and breakfast, children under school age are served a kids' meal, and if you would like your child to have the same dishes as the adults, you are advised to choose the elementary school child rate. On breakfast-only and room-only plans, children aged 3 and over pay the same rate as adults. Dinner is served either in your room or in the restaurant, so in-room dining is an option. At the private villa, dinner is a barbecue enjoyed on the terrace, where elementary school children have the same menu as adults and younger children are served a dedicated menu.

Baths and Onsen

The Oarai onsen water, which is brought in, is a sodium chloride cold mineral spring, and its smooth, moisturizing feel has earned it the nickname Bijin-shiage no Yu, the waters that put the finishing touch on your looks. The communal bath is open from 3 p.m. to midnight and again from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. the next morning, and the sauna alternates between men and women. The communal bath has no open-air bath. A bathing tax of 150 yen per person per night applies, but only to guests aged 12 and over, so younger children are not charged.

Family-Friendly Features

Guest rooms are equipped with a humidifier. For accessibility, a wheelchair is available to borrow and there is a barrier-free toilet, and guest rooms have Western-style toilets. Members who book directly through the Relo Hotels & Resorts reservation site can extend checkout to 11 a.m.

The hotel stands right in front of Aquaworld Ibaraki Prefectural Oarai Aquarium, about 15 minutes by car from Mito-Oarai IC and about 7 minutes by taxi from Oarai Station. By train, take a public bus about 15 minutes from Oarai Station to the Aquaworld Oarai bus stop, then walk 2 minutes. Parking is available for 40 cars, free of charge.
