Baths and Onsen
Takeo Onsen is a weakly alkaline simple onsen whose smooth water is said to ease stress, benefit the skin and help you recover from fatigue, and it is also known as a bath of beauty. The ryokan has two communal baths. Horai no Yu, done in black tones, is distinguished by its hinoki cypress tub and its garden view, and it has a powder room to use after your bath. Sakura no Yu, done in soft skin tones, has a jet bath. The two communal baths swap between men and women in the morning and evening, so you can use both during your stay. Bathing hours are 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. and from 6 a.m. the next morning.

This long-established ryokan dates from the middle of the Edo period, and it makes a good sightseeing base: three National Treasures, including the Takeo Onsen Romon gate, are within a 5-minute walk.
