Large Open-Air Bath 'Suimei no Yu'

About 10 minutes by car from Dogo Onsen Station, this hot-spring ryokan is wrapped in the natural surroundings of Okudogo. 'Yunose,' on basement level 1 of the main building, also houses five distinctively different private-hire open-air baths - including a rock bath, stone bath and cypress bath - available for a fee (JPY 4,400 per bath / 45 minutes, with 30-minute extensions at JPY 1,100), along with a foot-bath terrace. On the 1st floor there are also special guest rooms with a riverbed-style open-air bath, so families with babies can enjoy the onsen without worrying about other guests.

The summer-only garden pool is a cold-spring pool, unusual even nationwide, with two depths of 60 cm and 90 cm designed to be easy for small children to play in. The Kids Room, in the playroom on the 5th floor of the main building (3 p.m. to 10 p.m.), is stocked with a slide and toys, making rainy days and evenings easier to fill.
