Spa Resort Hawaiians Monolith Tower is a 121-room resort hotel standing at the gateway to Spa Resort Hawaiians in Iwaki, Fukushima. Every room is non-smoking, and the lineup runs from Japanese-Western rooms to barrier-free rooms and rooms with a loft. Guests have a communal bath of their own fed by onsen flowing directly from the source, along with a French-Polynesian buffet. Baby goods are available to borrow and there is a kids' kitchen, making the hotel easy to manage with young children.
Rooms
Guest rooms come in six types: Superior Japanese-Western, Superior Family, Family Loft, Universal, Junior Suite and Premium Suite. All are non-smoking. The Superior Japanese-Western room sleeps 2 to 5 guests and measures 39 sq m, with two single beds 97 cm wide by 195 cm long plus a raised area finished in Ryukyu tatami, so you can use the Japanese-style and Western-style spaces separately. The Superior Family room sleeps 2 to 5 guests and measures 41 sq m; it has no beds, and staff lay out futons on the raised wooden floor before bedtime. The 53 sq m Family Loft sleeps 5 to 7 guests, with one room on each guest-room floor for a total of just 8 rooms. The barrier-free Universal room is 39 sq m plus a 6-tatami area and sleeps 2 to 4 guests; its sanitary space, with bathroom, washbasin and toilet, can also be used from a wheelchair.
Dining
Dinner is a French-Polynesian buffet at the restaurant Nesia, where traditional Polynesian dishes are prepared with French technique. The venue has an open-kitchen corner where you can watch the cooking, plus a kids' kitchen with dishes for children and a dessert corner. At the buffet venue, the 8 specified allergenic ingredients (wheat, milk, egg, buckwheat, peanut, crab, shrimp and walnut) are labeled on the menus above the buffet counters. On some accommodation plans, the breakfast "Hawaiian Morning with a choice of main dish" includes a morning kids' plate for children, and for children ages 0 to 2 there is baby food suitable from 7 months old.

Guests staying at Monolith Tower can use the tower's own communal baths, Sumi-no-Yu and Uzu-no-Yu, fed by 100 percent spring water flowing directly from the source. A connecting passageway also leads to Edo Jowa Yoichi, one of the world's largest open-air baths, and to the Palace onsen communal bath with 12 kinds of bath across 24 tubs. Sumi-no-Yu and Uzu-no-Yu include a shallow bath where a parent and child can get in together, as well as a space where a parent and child can wash each other's backs. The men's and women's communal baths are swapped, and children of the opposite sex may enter the bathing area and changing room only up to age 6. The indoor and outdoor pools are free for staying guests and include a children's pool as well as a colorful three-lane water slide, which makes a good spot for a child's first time on a slide. Advance reservations are required and seats are limited. By car it is about 3 minutes from the Iwaki-Yumoto IC on the Joban Expressway. Parking for staying guests is free, but registration at the front desk is required. If you come by JR, a shuttle bus is also available from Yumoto Station.
