Guests can enjoy three private-hire open-air baths free of charge, savoring the celebrated waters and the spectacular view just with their family, with no reservation needed. Homemade dishes that make the most of the seasonal produce of local Joshu are part of the stay as well.

Ichikawa Bekkan Seikanso is a Japanese-style ryokan standing on high ground in Ikaho Onsen. Its three private-hire baths need no reservation and are free to use whenever one is open, so your family can bathe together without waiting for a turn. Dinner is served mainly in private dining rooms, and there is a children's set meal for elementary school children as well as a kids' plate for younger children. Do note that some rooms, such as the Showa Retro Rooms in the West Wing, have no elevator and are reached by two flights of stairs from the front desk.
Rooms
Standing on high ground in Ikaho Onsen, the ryokan has 24 rooms in total. The Showa Retro Rooms in the West Wing, Toki no Mori, are 12-tatami Japanese-style tatami rooms with a broad window-side space, sleeping 2 to 5 guests. They are reached by two flights of stairs from the front desk, however, and as there is no elevator they do not suit older guests or those who have difficulty walking. The reasonably priced Japanese-style tatami rooms, mostly on lower floors, have a main room of 7.5 tatami mats plus a 3-tatami broad window-side space and sleep 1 to 5 guests. The Twin Bedroom has two Simmons beds in a 10-tatami Japanese-style tatami room, and adding one futon on the tatami area lets 3 guests stay. The room with a semi-open-air bath, MOKUREN, is laid out for a sense of privacy, but it is limited to adults and cannot be used by families with children.

Dinner and breakfast are both served mainly in private dining rooms, so your family can eat quietly on your own. For elementary school children there is a children's set meal that follows the adult menu with fewer dishes, with some items such as the grilled course replaced by fried shrimp. Baths and Onsen
Alongside the communal baths Yamabuki and Hototogisu, three private-hire baths - Futarishizuka, Mayumi and Shirakaba - are free to use. They do not work on a reservation system: you simply use one whenever it is free, with about 30 minutes per turn as a guideline. Being able to get into the bath just with your family, without worrying about other guests, is an easy arrangement for parents with small children. The spring water is a simple onsen, said to help with recovery from fatigue.
Family-Friendly Features
Co-sleeping is available for up to 2 children, and children under 2 stay free of charge when co-sleeping. Elementary school children, in both the lower and upper grades, pay 70% of the adult rate, and rates for babies and toddlers are set in detail according to whether meals and bedding are included. The Showa Retro Rooms in the West Wing have no elevator and require the stairs up to the third-floor level, so take care when moving around with small children.
Access
It is about 20 minutes from the Shibukawa-Ikaho IC on the Kan-Etsu Expressway toward Ikaho, and about 25 minutes from JR Shibukawa Station by bus bound for Ikaho Onsen. Parking on the grounds is free for up to 50 cars, and within the Ikaho Onsen area there is also a free shuttle to the highway bus stop and the local bus terminal.
