Kokuya is a long-established ryokan founded in 1912 that draws Ikaho Onsen's Kogane no Yu directly from the source. Children can stay in every room except the Japanese-modern rooms, and family-friendly options include rooms with an open-air bath, private dining rooms and separate meal rates for young children by age. There are two communal baths, and Nozomi no Yu has a baby bed, though children who are not yet out of diapers are asked to refrain from using the communal baths. The private-hire bath is by reservation, and the ryokan is well placed 1 to 2 minutes on foot from the Ishidan-gai stone stairway.
Rooms
Kokuya is a long-established ryokan founded in 1912, and children can stay in every room except the Japanese-modern rooms. There are four types of rooms with an open-air bath — Ha no Shizuku, Ki no Shizuku, Hana no Shizuku and No no Shizuku — each of which lets guests enjoy Kogane no Yu in their own room, flowing directly from the source without recirculation, for 1 to 4 guests. There is also Keyaki, which has an open-air bath fed by Kogane no Yu, Momiji, which likewise has an open-air bath, and Otowa, which has a semi-open-air bath filled with plain hot water rather than onsen water. The open-air baths in the rooms at Nishi no Gatei are not onsen either but recirculated plain hot water, and they can be used at any time, 24 hours a day. Nishi no Gatei is a separate building from the one housing the front desk; the dining areas and the communal baths are in Higashi no Gatei. The Japanese-Western room of 12.5 tatami mats, renovated in December 2023, accommodates 2 to 6 guests, while the standard Japanese-style tatami room of 10 tatami mats, with a bathroom and toilet, accommodates 1 to 5 guests. The Japanese-modern twin rooms, of which there are 3 types, are for 2 guests and cannot be booked by families with children, so please take note. All rooms are non-smoking.

To use the private dining room Ikaho Komachi, you need to book a plan that guarantees a private dining room, and it may be unavailable when fully booked. Meals for young children are served as a kids' meal. For children under school age aged 3 and over, the rate categories are young child with meal and futon or young child with meal only; for children ages 1 to 2, they are young child with futon only or young child with neither meal nor futon. There is no charge for children age 0 who need neither meal nor futon. The meals are set menus, so the contents cannot be changed; individual ingredients can be left out, but components such as dashi stock and extracts cannot be removed. The private-hire bath has no washing area or showers, and there are steps on the way, so it is not suitable for anyone who has difficulty with steps. Children who are not yet out of diapers are asked to refrain from using the communal baths. The communal bath Nozomi no Yu has a baby bed. Pregnant guests may bathe if they are in a stable stage of pregnancy, but should watch their footing in the communal baths and elsewhere.

By car, it is about 20 minutes from the Shibukawa-Ikaho IC on the Kan-etsu Expressway. Parking is free for staying guests, with space for about 50 cars right in front of the building; when that lot is full, guests can use the second lot, which is also at no charge.
