A traditional Japanese-style ryokan at the entrance to Ikaho's Ishidangai stone stairway street, where guests can take in the lively atmosphere of the onsen town. Every corridor is laid with tatami, gentle on the feet, and there are rooms with an open-air bath where you can have Shirogane no Yu and a spectacular view all to yourselves, as well as a family room. Guests can enjoy the renowned waters in authentic wooden baths made generously of hinoki cypress, and it suits family stays too.

Oyado Tamaki is a traditional Japanese-style ryokan, in business for 70 years, standing at the entrance to the Ishidangai stone stairway street in Ikaho Onsen. Ten of its 26 rooms have an open-air bath, and guests can enjoy two onsen with different types of spring water: Ikaho's Kogane no Yu and Shirogane no Yu. Co-sleeping is available and meals are adjusted to each child's age, and the family room Kashiwa, which can be divided into three rooms of 12, 8 and 6 tatami mats, sleeps up to 12 guests. With private-hire baths and a free shuttle as well, it is a good fit for an onsen trip with the family.

Of the 26 rooms, 18 are Japanese-style tatami rooms, 5 are Japanese-Western rooms and 3 are Western-style rooms, and 10 of them have an open-air bath. The North Building rooms are Japanese-style tatami rooms of 10 tatami mats plus a 3-tatami broad window-side space, with a bath and toilet, and sleep 2 to 6 guests. The Main Building rooms without a bath are on the 4th floor, and getting from the 3rd floor to the 4th means climbing about 20 steps. Dinner is a kaiseki course (a multi-course Japanese meal) that changes monthly, served in the Japanese dining room, and breakfast is a gentle Japanese set meal with dishes such as millet rice porridge and simmered dishes. Children's meals vary by age: elementary school children pay 70% of the adult rate, and children aged 3 to 6 are served a kids' meal at 50% of the adult rate. Food allergies are accommodated as far as possible, but in the case of severe food allergies, allergens are not completely removed from the ingredients or the cooking equipment. In the North Building rooms and in Enju, Yuzuriha and Yuzuriha-no-Ki, the rooms with an open-air bath, in-room dining is available for a fee for up to 4 guests.
Baths and Onsen
The ryokan draws on two spring sources at Ikaho Onsen: Kogane no Yu, a sulfate spring, and Shirogane no Yu, a metasilicic-acid simple spring. There are 2 communal baths and 3 open-air baths, plus 2 private-hire baths: the indoor bath Koharubiyori and the open-air bath Akari. The private-hire baths can be used for 50 minutes per session, at 3,300 yen or 2,200 yen per group. Guests with tattoos are not permitted to use the communal baths under any circumstances; they are directed to a room with an open-air bath or to a private-hire bath instead.

Children aged 3 to 6 are served a kids' meal, and elementary school children are served a children's meal. Two wheelchairs are always available, and guests using one are directed to rooms in the North Building or Jutei. There are a few steps inside the building, but handrails are installed almost everywhere.
Access
The ryokan is 15 minutes by car from Shibukawa Station and a 2-minute walk from Ikaho's Ishidangai stone stairway street. There are 2 parking areas with about 60 spaces in total, free for staying guests. A free shuttle is available anywhere within Ikaho-machi: contact the ryokan when you arrive and someone will come to pick you up. Pickup from Shibukawa Station is not possible, under an agreement with the local bus company. At Jutei and on some plans, check-in may be from 2 p.m. and checkout by 11 a.m.
