Overview

Hotel JAL City Nagasaki sits right beside Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown, about a 1-minute walk away, and about a 3-minute walk from the Shinchi Chinatown tram stop. A guest-room renovation completed in 2024 turned the rooms into "NAGASAKI Plus+" rooms inspired by Nagasaki's traditions. Co-sleeping and breakfast are both free of charge for children who have not yet started elementary school, making this an easy choice for families with young children. There is no communal bath, onsen or pool, and parking is in a multi-level garage with a vehicle height limit of 1.55 m.

Rooms

Guest-room renovations, carried out in stages from 2020, were completed in February 2024, and the rooms were reborn as "NAGASAKI Plus+" rooms inspired by the traditions and nature of Nagasaki. The non-smoking Compact Double is 18 sq m with one double bed 140 cm wide, and the Twin is 21 sq m with two single beds 120 cm wide. Rooms sleep a maximum of 3 guests, and one extra bed is provided when 3 people share. The most spacious type, the Superior Twin, has only one room on each floor, while the Moderate Twin can also be used by 3 guests once an extra bed is added. Rooms have a refrigerator, a humidifying air purifier and a toilet with a bidet function, and every room is fitted with a Nestlé Nespresso coffee machine.

Dining

Breakfast is a Japanese, Western and Chinese buffet served from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Toen on the 2nd floor. The spread includes dishes with a Nagasaki character, such as mapo tofu, authentic dim sum and Toruko Rice. For staying guests taking breakfast, the charge is 2,500 yen for adults and 1,200 yen for elementary school children, tax included, while there is no breakfast charge for children under school age (ages 0 to under 6). Dinner is also served at Toen on the 2nd floor, with Chinese course menus and a la carte dishes, and there are two private rooms, one seating up to 6 guests and one seating up to 12. Room service is not offered.

Family-friendly features

Co-sleeping is free of charge for children under school age (ages 0 to under 6), as a rule for up to one child in a double room and up to two children in a twin room. Please note that booking for more people than the room's capacity incurs an additional room charge. An extra bed (4,400 yen) and a crib (1,100 yen), both tax included, each carry a fee, and they cannot be set up in some room types. Advance reservation is required: they cannot be set up on the day of arrival, and requests cannot be met when none are in stock. A microwave on the 1st floor can be used to warm baby food or bento boxes, and the women's restrooms on the 1st and 2nd floors each have one diaper-changing table. There is no onsen, communal bath, private-hire bath or pool, indoors or outdoors, and the guest rooms are not barrier-free, though the lobby and restaurant have no steps and can be used in a wheelchair.
