Overview

Hotel Hananoyu sits in the heart of Sendai's Akiu Onsen. Guests can move from bath to bath across a generous set of bathing areas fed by the hotel's own spring source, known as Kami no Yu: a riverside open-air bath, a mountain-side open-air bath, the Mizubasho no Yu and Choju no Yu indoor baths, and two private-hire open-air baths available for a fee. With a creative Japanese-Italian buffet and a free kids' corner during the summer holidays, complete with ball-pit play equipment and a cardboard maze, it is an onsen inn where the whole family can settle in.

Hotel Hananoyu is an Akiu Onsen hotel in Akiumachi, Taihaku-ku, Sendai. It is about 10 minutes from the Sendai-minami Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway and about 30 minutes by car from Sendai Station, and a free shuttle bus from Sendai Station can also be reserved through the official website.

Baths and Onsen

The hotel's signature feature is the chance to tour four bathing areas, each with its own character. There are riverside open-air baths for both men and women, along with a mountain-side open-air bath - a single bath that alternates by time, open to women from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. and to men from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. The indoor baths are Mizubasho no Yu and Choju no Yu. The private-hire open-air baths Kaede no Yu and Fuji no Yu are fed directly from the source and cost 2,000-2,500 yen per room for 45 minutes; families with babies enjoy them as a family bath. The hotel's own spring source is rich in beneficial properties and abundant in volume, which is why it is called Kami no Yu.

Rooms

Guest rooms come in many forms, including rooms with an open-air bath, Japanese-style tatami rooms, Western-style rooms, top-floor rooms with a view, Japanese-Western rooms and wakeari rooms (rooms with a noted drawback). A detached glamping special room with an open-air bath was added in July 2024, and a women-only riverside room in June 2024.

Dining

Dinner is a creative Japanese-Italian buffet built around the theme of beauty and health. Events such as lobby concerts and baby massage sessions are also held regularly.
