Overview
Akiu Onsen Hotel New Mitoya Annex is the annex of Hotel New Mitoya in Akiu Onsen, a 3-minute walk from the main building. The annex has its own communal bath with a full-immersion bath and a reclining bath, and guests can also use the main building's 16 different bathing experiences free of charge. A summer-only Baden pool and a playroom make it an easy place to stay with young children. Families can choose from spacious rooms or Japanese-Western rooms that suit co-sleeping with a small child. Baths and Onsen
The annex's communal bath has a full-immersion bath at 42°C and a reclining bath at 39°C, with two of each for men and for women. You can also use the main building's communal baths, with their 16 different bathing experiences, free of charge. Across the three communal baths there are cypress baths, ceramic baths and an open-air rock bath looking out at the waterfall in the Japanese garden. The spring water is a sodium chloride spring, said to be beneficial for frozen shoulder, sensitivity to cold and skin conditions.

The summer-only Baden pool, open from July 17 to August 31 in 2026, has a 25 m heated pool and an outdoor children's pool, along with ultrasonic baths, whirlpool baths, walking baths and reclining baths. Staying guests can use it free of charge, and swim rings, goggles and kickboards are available to borrow, but day-use visits and pool-only visits are not possible. Access
The hotel is about 30 minutes by car from Sendai Station. A free shuttle bus runs daily from the East Exit of Sendai Station and requires advance reservations, departing Sendai Station East Exit at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and the hotel at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Use is limited to up to 8 people per group. By public bus, take the Miyagi Kotsu bus bound for Akiu Onsen from stop 8 at the West Exit of Sendai Station and get off at Akiu Onsen Yumoto. There is free parking for 30 vehicles, with a shuttle to the second and third parking lots.
