Yawaraginosato Yadoya has one of Yufuin's finest hot spring sources, with views of the celebrated Mount Yufu and a location close to Yufuin's sightseeing street. Rooms come in four types - Western-style twin, Western-style twin deluxe, Japanese-Western style, and Japanese-style tatami - with the Japanese-Western rooms sleeping up to 6 guests and the Japanese-style tatami rooms up to 7, and children's rates are available. The private-hire open-air baths and private-hire indoor bath are all free to use, and the bathing tax is free for children. The lounge has a picture book corner and a playroom, and dinner menus are prepared for preschool-age children and elementary school children.
Rooms
There are four room types - Western-style twin, Western-style twin deluxe, Japanese-Western style, and Japanese-style tatami - for 18 rooms in total (6 Japanese-Western rooms, 3 Japanese-style tatami rooms, 4 twin deluxe rooms and 5 twin rooms). The Western-style twin (up to 2 guests, 14 sq m, with beds 110 cm wide and 195 cm long) and the Western-style twin deluxe (2 to 3 guests, 22 sq m) have an en-suite bathroom. The Japanese-Western rooms (2 to 6 guests, 8 tatami mats) and the Japanese-style tatami rooms (2 to 7 guests, 14 to 17.5 tatami mats) have a shower booth only, and their toilets are wheelchair accessible. Humidifiers are provided in every room except in summer, and air purifiers are provided in every room. Laying out the futon bedding is done by guests themselves.
Dining
Dinner is served at the dining room Bungo-tei as a kaiseki course made with local Oita ingredients. The main dish uses Oita Wagyu, Oita's branded wagyu beef. Dinner is by reservation only and must be booked at least 3 days before your stay, with a choice of a 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. start. Elementary school children are served a kids' kaiseki with a wide variety of dishes, and preschool-age children are served a dinner arranged on a car-shaped plate. Breakfast is a Japanese-style set meal served at Meibun from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., with last admission at 9:30 a.m. A kids' meal that includes breakfast and dinner (4,400 yen) is also available; book it under the preschool-age child option when reserving.
Baths and Onsen
The water is 100% Yufuin Onsen water flowing directly from the source, and the spring water is a weakly alkaline simple onsen. There are 3 private-hire open-air baths - Yawaragi no Yu, Naka no Yu and Goemon no Yu - as well as a barrier-free private-hire indoor family bath that guests in a wheelchair can also use. All the private-hire baths are free, reserved in 50-minute slots that start at 30 minutes past the hour. Each room can use them up to twice: once in the afternoon and once in the morning. There are also indoor baths separated for men and women. As for baths in the rooms, only the Western-style twin and Western-style twin deluxe have an en-suite bathroom, while the Japanese-Western and Japanese-style tatami rooms have a shower booth only. The bathing tax is 150 yen for adults and free for children.
