A modern log house in the hills of Sano, rented to one group at a time

This log house in Kanma-cho, Sano, Tochigi, sits surrounded by mountains and open sky that change with the seasons, and is rented in its entirety to a single group. Inside, the scent and warmth of wood fill the house, and each room has its own modern character. It is a private space where families and friends can relax undisturbed. Capacity is up to 10 guests (8 recommended), and up to 8 guests can all sleep in beds.

"FOR FAMILY" facilities for traveling with a baby

The official facilities list includes a "FOR FAMILY" section with children's tableware, a folding high chair, a crib, toys, picture books and an outdoor slide. Rakuten's facility list also mentions a baby bath, so families with babies can travel with less luggage. The first-floor bedroom has a folding crib, and a child safety gate is fitted at the entrance. The official website and Rakuten both note that the house has facilities that make it easy for guests traveling with babies to stay.

Home theater, wood stove and board games

The house has a home theater with an 80-inch screen, a projector and a Chromecast-compatible smart TV, so you can enjoy movies and games even on rainy days. There are also books and picture books, board and card games, and a hammock, so there is plenty to do both indoors and outdoors. Guests can try the wood stove as well, but it cannot be used by guests with young children or by anyone unfamiliar with operating it, and a consent form must be submitted to use it.

A full kitchen and laundry facilities for comfortable long stays

The kitchen is fully equipped, with an induction cooktop, a dishwasher, a convection microwave oven, a rice cooker, pots and frying pans, and even children's tableware. A free washer-dryer, detergent and an iron are provided, and long stays of one week to one month are accommodated, with discounts available. Meals are not included, so guests generally cook for themselves. The self-service laundry corner is also free to use.

Access and house rules

The house is about 6 minutes by car from Izuruhara IC (ETC only) on the Kita-Kanto Expressway, about 10 minutes by taxi from Tanuma Station on the Tobu Sano Line, and about 19 minutes by taxi from Sano Station on the JR Ryomo Line. Free parking for 4 cars is available, with no reservation needed. Check-in is at 3 p.m. (last check-in 8 p.m.) and checkout is at 10 a.m. Because the house stands in a residential area, guests are asked to keep quiet from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. the next morning. The entire property is non-smoking, and pets are not allowed.
